Opinion Next week, rest them.

There is no way the match committee are going to flirt with form a week out from finals.

They had their chance yesterday and last week. They took it with Newman/Edwards/White.

The others must be good to go. I know I wouldn't want to be rested the week before a final.

It's not as simple as 'lose and play Port week 1'. There are a few other scenarios (albeit unlikely) ones that could eventuate. E.g. Essendon could somehow get away with not losing points which would mean we would have to beat them to stay 5th and play Port. If Essendon do lose their points Port could beat Carlton and then Brisbane could beat Geelong or Adelaide could beat WC by a reasonable amount to take Carlton's 9th spot and play finals. In that case we'd definitely want to stay 5th. Collingwood are no guarantees to beat North either.

So basically my point is don't rest anyone that doesn't need to be rested, spank Essendon and spank whoever we play week 1.

Yeah lets give our best 22 a week off

A pre finals footy trip to xxxx island should do the trick.

Kick back on banana lounges hav a few cans do a spot of fishing should freshen em up nicely.

2 down to 1 at best. Looked terrible.
Posted this in another thread (possibly in response to you :))

IMO this is the grading:
Negligent conduct (1 point)
Low impact (1 point)
High contact (2 points)

That's a level 1 striking offence which gets 80 points and no suspension.

The only difference I can see being applied is Reckless instead if Negligent which gets an extra point and up to 125 points which would be plead down (25%) under 100 less another 25% for good behaviour (not certain of Shane's record).

Unless there is a medical report showing some damage, the impact won't be higher than 'Low'.

Will not be suspended.

Hehe it was in response to me. I sure hope you are right. Though I think it will go more along the lines of wheel of fortune. Can't see him getting more than 2 down to 1 anyway so he'll be back for finals either way. Was just a dumb thing to do.

The good thing is we have several premiership coaches planning our finals campaign.

Hardwick x3
Leppa x3
Lade x1
Williams x1

8 flags between them.

Carlton or Port I don't care, we will smash them all.

I want to smash the bummers and taste their tears as they fall from the upper levels on Saturday night. Want to head into finals in ominous form and make the other teams wary of us. :thumbsu:

Don't flirt with form. It's a dress rehearsal for finals. You can't rest half a dozen players and expect to bring them in the next week and no one to miss a beat.

No finals team in history has ever made 6 changes

You need to hit finals running. We need our full team playing next week and we need to get over essendon so we hit finals with momentum.

Where have you been living?
Do you really think that the AFL wont persist with staging a match between Essendon and Richmond, even after they strip Essendon's points?
Do you think that if Richmond loses that match that the AFL will still award Richmond the 4 premiership points on offer?
Do you think that if Richmond rests the players you have mentioned, they will be any chance of beating Essendon who will still field their best team to try and go out on as strong a note as they possibly can?
Do you think that 56 + 0 somehow equals more than 56 + 4?

My maths is pies to 5th play Carlton or North to eight, and we play Port in Melbourne.
Ask yourself, who would you rather face in the first week of finals. North, Carlton or Port? You're nuts if you want to risk guys in a game that means nothing to us now. It's not about Saturday this week, it's all about the Saturday next week.

Don't think we should rest them.

When we couldn't make finals last year, everyone was like, "Ahhhhh, no point playing them, we aren't in the finals. Rest them."

We have made the finals, and I would like to see us have a little bit of form going into the elimination final. After yesterday, the boys should be up and about, and a light training session this week and next (Dimma said they will have a fortnight of light training runs to freshen them up) will see them pretty much fresh heading into finals.
