neitz for heff...any others?

will dutchey be needed?

perhaps he'd be good and try and stretch the brisbane defence that besides leppitch(miller) and mal michael (neitz) lacks quality talls.

im sure the scotts will be brought back to take on yze n robbo

What about Read? He must be close. Should be an automatic selection if available.
In: Neitz, Read
Out: Heff, (Moloney or McLean)
I don't know about the second change. Read has been great but it is very hard to get a spot in our side ATM  . However although Beamer has been my favourite player since he arrived at the club, his form since the Kangaroos game (Which may I remind you he was perhaps BOG with 27 touches) has been very bad. He is still only young (Hasn't even played 40 games) but I think to his standards he hasn't been very good. McLean has been alright but I think the worst player this week out of Beamer, Brock and Col should be dropped for Read. However ND hasn't seemed very happy with Beamers recent efforts (Has spent a lot of time on the pine and started there against WCE) and he may get dropped.

sylvia and mclean were named o nthe bench last week
sylvia has been a couple of times but mclean usually starts on the ground but bcoz of bad form against collingwood, they both did alright but i rekon alright could lose you a spot in the team atm.. sylvia played well in the 3rd quarter against west coast but brock really had little impact... i really dont want him to get dropped but read and bell would be pushing for selection.. while holland has bee playing pretty crap the last couple of rounds... i rekon we'll rotate the rucks again aswell.. highly unlikely but if we had 3 rucks in it would really stretch their ruck team..

CHANGES ??????

holland for neitz
heffernan for read
johnson for jamar

y drop mclean sylvia or moloney who are always givin 100% and havin a dip and we know they are all future stars. y drop them when ya have heffernan running around laying ******** weak tackles that are easily broken and rarly getting the ball

beamer is about top of the comp in long kicks and inside 50s and has missed 2 games. very important to our midfield and his grunt will be needed with brown n voss in there.

im goin for the same changes as Demonfire suggested

Neitz, Yze and Robbo is a better forward line then Neitz Holland and Robbo/Yze. im sick of this stretch defences height. mal michael and leppitsch will be taken up by neitz n miller so there aint any quality talls left to go on yze or robbo

sylvia, mclean and moloney have real good days when they get a lot of time on the ball. the times they dont play well they dont have much time on the ground. simple

moloney needs to get a full game (well as full as possible) under his belt. his aggression will be good against the lions. im sure they will physically target bruce and TJ. luckily their best tagger, Copeland aint playin =

After watching Sandy on ABC fight back but still go down at Port Melbourne on Sat I'd say there aren't a whole heap of blokes really pressuring for a recall. Ward & Jamar were good but Bell & Heff struggled.

I'd expect Read to return via Sandy, one more twinge & his season's just about gone so I'd wait 1 more at least. Neitz will be selected but may not play, if any team will test you it's the Lions just ask Riewoldt...

Jamar & Ward in

Johnson & McLean out

Neitz in hopefully, probably for Heff. Be happy to see Jamar in for Johnson and get some time on the ground and a few games in a row to build some consistency. Thats about the only changes I would make barring injury.
If Neitz plays, would/should Miller go back on Brown and perhaps Fergy come forward? I think anyone we have down back is either to light (Ferguson, Rivers) or slow (Nicho) to play him. Fergy seems a capable forward when needed.
Finally, it's a bit game for Moloney I reckon. Has been ordinary the last couple of weeks and I think he spends too much time remanstrating against his opponent rather than concentrating on the ball and the Brisbane midfield are masters at suckering opponents. Hopefully his eyes will be focused solely on the ball and he towels 'em.

I hope Brock/Moloney dont get dropped, we haven't got anyone good enough to really replace them. It would be unwise to drop either of those two, especially because they're still developing (brock in particular).
I think Neitz in for Heffernan would just about do it for changes.

I'd love to see Read back in though, add a bit of grunt to go against the scott brothers and co.

read needs a game or 2 at sandy before comin back. he didnt play last week for sandy did he?

read- heff
jamar- johnson

moloneys grunt will be needed but we need to make sure he concentrates on the ball more then the man. also his breaking tackles will be much needed

this is wat i propose for brown.

Green runs around with him in the middle. he did the job on kouta and got a fair bit of the ball himself. i dont want an exceptionally tight tag but just provide a challenge.

then when he goes down forward deep, nicholson as he is the only one of our defenders that remotly has the strength to gow ith him.

now thats if brown plays his midfield/fF role. if he goes into a regular CHF then may aswell stick with rivers. when its body on body we will rely on bizzzell and wheatley to help out but rivers can hold his own, he has some deceptive strength

also on the lead he can go with brown

i really dont want miller down there. he he goes down there then i can see our structure breaking down accross half forward meaning that we will rely on long kicks from the middle to full forward to get our goals with no big target at CHF

I would mainly agree with that, especially Green tagging Brown. Green also did the job on Ling in the Geelong game. Considering what our defence has been like Rivers could go on Brown as long as Wheatley or Biz were coming in from the side. I have a feeling Miller probably won't go to him as ND should have realised now Miller is very vital to our structure and when he is playing well we get plenty of F50 entries.

I'll leave the specific match ups to you guys but be sure to err on the side of picking a slightly smaller team. It has rained in SE QLD for 3 days and there has just been a severe weather warning issued between Coolangatta and Fraser Island for tomorrow with a huge low pressure system off the coast.

The Gabba is a great drying ground but still further rain is predicted for the days beyond tomorrow so looking a fair chance to be a good old fashioned wet weather slog....

Hmmmmmm. This may be a blessing in disguise. Looking at some of our players, I think we have a few that would shine in the wet. Beamer, Brock and Col all have strong bodies and I think Brock and Beamer especially would shine in this weather. I think our side is fairly good in the wet except it may not be as good for our two best midfielders, TJ and Bruce. I think this week ND will tell Beamer if he wants to keep his spot he must play well and I reckon he'll come out and have a blinder. Sounds like wishful thinking, but IMO it's quite a possiblity.

In terms of the weather this is the most rain I can ever remember seeing in a short period in SE QLD. We got 12 inches here on the Gold Coast in the last 12 hours and it shows no sign of abating. Roads are closed everywhere and the Council just sent its 2700 workers home for the first time since the cyclone and floods of 1974. I'm not exactly sure of the situation in Brisbane though I know they too have had a lot of rain and the Gabba is about 70km away from my home on the northern Gold Coast so they must have got plenty.

I do understand though that it is supposed to start clearing some time tomorrow and the Gabba has state of the art drainage so it could by a dry weather game by Saturday night? Who knows.... just have to keep an eye on the situation.

To be honest I actually didn't see them but I know players like Brown and Aka are freaks in the wet, and lets not forget Simon Black vs Hawthorn in the wet last year. If the weather is really bad Holland should probably go out for Read, and I can't think of a matchup on Aka. I thought maybe Whelan, but Aka would play up the ground a lot so maybe Nathan Brown like you said or maybe Junior if he goes into the midfield a lot.

I know that we think he's a hack, but what about Heffernan on Aker? He kept Judd pretty quiet two weeks ago..
It's an idea. He's not going to hurt them the other way, so maybe we could just have him follow Aka around all game. The fab 5 are a worry though, as we can't tag them all and if they all hit form we will be very hard pressed to hold them and win in the midfield ourselves. Whitey needs a big game for us to win, he got killed up there last year.

I was thinking the same thing. The weather would suit Moloney as well. Can't wait for this game, should be fantastic.

we cant tag the whole fab 5 so simple....make aker, black and power accountable the other two are yet to establish themselves this year as much as these 3 get say J-Mac Heff, Green etc to hold these guys while guys like Bruce, Johnstone tear it up.

Good point. It's worked really well for us this year and I don't think they have anyone to go with Bruce. Watch for Beamer and Brock to play well. I reckon they are both going to have a blinder.
