Well we will just wait and see what happens with the GC. Yes it will make things slightly harder but there is nothing totally frim in place yet say says the GC will get all the decent picks.
We will finish bottom 4 or 5 in the next two seasons so we simply have to make sure that we get a decent percentage of the draft picks right.

Correct, over to you dodoro.

Now is not the time to win. Went to Adelaide last week, did you venture over Cab ? Was very impressed with the effort, showed alot of heart, would have been very annoyed if we had got up. What good would it have done us ?
I bleed Essendon, I breathe Essendon, I also see the big picture cabby.

I'd hate to see you at a game.

"Yeah! Woo we lost!"

"Cmon boys, stop us from getting goals! Yeah!"

seems to be an ever increasing panic setting in regards the expected rape of the draft by a new entrant in a couple years time

looks likely the new entrant will get 1/3/5/7 etc leaving 2/4/6/8 etc for the cellar dwellers, not an ideal situation but hardly likely to be the sole cause for any side to remain chained to the bottom 4

we'll win a couple shortly & no, that wont do us any favors come draft time, but will certainly add a bit of belief to a young group which i would think is more important

I certainly hope West Coast never tank. I don't care how much talent a potential recruit may have, nothing beats having a winning culture at your club. My main conern at the moment is that the young guys we are bringing in will not learn how to win and will therefore lack that killer instinct when it is their turn to have a crack at the flag.

As for this week, if you guys feel like tanking, that would be much appreciated.

Must win game.

We have winnable games the next month and it's time to get the club going in the right direction.

I don't think it will make any difference if we get Pick 2 or 4 or 6. I'm hoping we get pick 6 and get on a winning run.

Yeh, tanking is idiots and Carlton.

Oh wait, same thing.

It would be great for the development of the kids we have now to win. To see all their hard work finally being rewarded and it would give them an extra lift to work even harder. You are a joke windyhill. I don't give a sh*t how many games you've been to, you want us to lose and that is never the sign of a true supporter.

I see your point about the big picture Windy, but let me offer a different perspective. I've got five kids, all Bombers, the three eldest unconditional Bombers, the youngest two are tearing my defences apart every time we lose. I want to keep walking to the ground with five Bombers in front of me, decked out in red and black, and its going to be easier if we win a game every three or four weeks.

I'm sure you don't want the spoon, because that's not the Essendon way, so you can write off Natinui. Whether we get pick 2,3,4,5, it gets subjective, and thats where Dud oro has to stand up.

Incidentally, not a bad pedigree, nearly as good as mine ;)

Actually it is now Merv Keane that has to stand up ;)

I knew Dud Oro would make it to the top ;) Clayton from Footscray was asked today to name some of his admired list managers, predictably we did not get a mention.

Unfortunately must say I am with WindyHill.

Barrack for a win while we are still in it, but once we are out of it, lapping up the losses.

It's the system. If it's broke, fix it.

There is a difference between turning up and barracking for a win and then being disapointed but not totaly annoyed with a loss and simply not wanting to win at all before the event.

I am not really a Dodoro fan but i will say he has done a better job in the last three years once they got all the other chefs out of the kitchen.
Lets face it Dodoro originally applied for a football manager spot but missed that but got the recruiting gig. Our previous head of recruting left becasue he felt there was too much interference. One does not has to be a rocket scientist to work out why he landed the job.......

Yeah well I have thought to myself mid week bring a loss on.

When the game starts can't barrack against.

But when I hear Andy D say the draft is good with last getting first pick, teams don't try and lose, fair enough. I can live with all the putting players in for operations early, playing the kids, all the stuff that is at the edge of a team setting out to win or not on a given day.

Within the playing group and support staff fair enough. BUT WHAT ABOUT SUPPORTERS. HOW CAN THE GAME FUNCTION RATIONALLY WHEN SUPPORTERS SEE MERIT IN THEIR TEAM LOSING. IT IS BULLSHIT.

The team that finishes ninth should get first pick. Tenth second etc. Windy is damn right the way the system is. You can say all you like about pick 10 might turn out better than pick 1, but once you aren't a realistic premiership chance, you look to next season. And what do you want next season. The best available talent.

Hate the botton up draft. It plays with me love of the bombers.

Ant robus, your perception of the atitude that should be adopted by every Dons supporter as they fervently take their seat is outstanding. I applaud.

And there goes 1 club that can get a PP this year :thumbsu:

Didn't Judkins leave because we wouldn't give him a 5 year contract?

I was under the impression that Sheeds and Judkins had a falling out on various issues.

I can confirm that Judkins left Rich for Ess cause Rich wouldn't pay him petrol money.

Why the hell would someone bother traveling all the way to Adelaide hoping for a loss? windyhill you are a disgrace mate.
If we get a good draft pick and get a top youngster, great. But until then our aim is to win and reward the hard work of the youngsters we have drafted the last couple of years who are turning up week in week out and putting their body on the line without tasting victory.

Win or lose, the kids are getting experience. Win = disadvantage our drafting. Lose = advantage our drafting. So windyhill goes to Adelaide in the hope of advantaging our drafting.

Pretty easy to follow really. We can't win the flag in 2008. Your line is build a winning culture we get a flag. Windyhill's line is draft well then build a winning culture we get a flag.

The club made a mistake a few years ago by codifying where we should finish. Moved a motion to say every year we should finish in the top 8.

Mistake on two levels. One, it didn't recognize that winning a flag is not acheived with a vote. And two, disregarded the advantage of the wooden spoon.

Adam Mcphee went a step towards over riding the codification on Before The Game two weeks ago. Said we are aimimg to be competitive. Perfect attitude towards the way the draft is structured. How did he drop that mark in the third quarter last night?

A win would, I feel, deffinatly improve these players we have at the moment's confiedence and they would feel great and learn that there is light at the end of the tunnel and that they are capable of winning a game, which would do wonders for their game especially on the pyscological level where so much of the game is won. A win would see these playing devolp better.

There is no guarantee that the bloke drafted 1st will be better than the bloke drafted 6th and no guarantee that the bloke drafted 6th will be better than the bloke 20th. Look at James Hird for an example. Not all great players come at the highest picks.

Took he's eyes of the ball, a mistake that is made all the time by players when there is an easy mark.

Dont be stupid guys. We should lose this game then the week after beat Carlton then leave it there for the season. That way we beat Carlton twice and still get Rich/Natanui. That would make my season:D

Wooden spoon won't kill us. Worst things can happen.

I'm hoping Knights treats every game left in this dismal season like a practice match and continues to play the Myers,Pears,Jettas,Neagles etc..every week.

And to those who say one top 5 draft pick can't influence a side in his first year...wake up will ya. You only have to look at Palmer's impact in the Docker team atm. The kid is their number 1 ball getter....after 8 or 9 games!
A Daniel Rich or one of the many outstanding on-ballers on offer in this years draft is too good to pass up.

It's not tanking. It's playing the kids and not being anywhere near feeling shattered after yet another loss.
