the second comment I'd make on my initial impressions of gamepass - for a corporation as big as the NFL, it's incredulous that they don't have the technical ability to differentiate a " fixed" sign in (ie laptop or desktop) and a mobile device.

I really should be able to watch a game on the tv and have Red Zone on my phone or iPad (not that I have an iPad - but it's fine on the phone)... isn't everyone meant to be pushing the second screen experience? having my fantasy scores up doesn't really count...

The first half of the season game pass was great but the last 3 weeks the quality has been deplorable when I get home on Monday night to watch the Jets game (and not because the Jets have sucked but because game pass has basically shat itself). The picture starts off good for a few minutes then the quality drops to the point where it basically just freezes on a pixelated image for minutes at a time. During the week I can watch back replays without any issues so the only conclusion I can come to is that the network they're running on can't handle the demand on gamedays which is pretty crap for an organisation as big as they are.

I was having an issue earlier in the year with interference but I've checked and there's nothing that could be interfering with the wifi and as I said its fine the rest of the week.

On another note, is there any indication when they might have a specific AppleTV app so I don't have to stream through the iPad? It seems all the other major leagues have one but the NFL still doesn't for some reason? Watching the NBA through the AppleTV was much more user friendly than streaming through the iPad.

I'm so confused.

Early last week Game Pass was priced at $80.

When I decided on the weekend that I wanted it, it had gone back up to $135.

Today it's gone back to $80.

WTF?

I started the free 7 day trial on Monday morning - curiously the 7 days expires on Saturday....

Anyway, I've just emailed them and ask them what they'll take of my cc if I keep it. Given it was $135 when I began the trial, I'm really expecting them to say that's what it will cost.

They've got buckleys... it would mean I've essentially paid $55 for the "free" trial week!

As I said last week, I'm perfectly happy to pay $80 for Season Pass (much as I wish they had a PS3 or Xbox 360 app on which to watch it...)

There are plenty of legal ways to download things online.

I'm not going to profess to be a saint. Of course I've pirated things in the past - and for something like The League I won't even feel bad about it. It wasn't showing in Australia when I first started watching it, and I later bought the first 4 series on DVD from Amazon.

But why would I pirate something that, for 80 bucks, I'm happy to pay for? What sort of tight arse won't pay 80 bucks for Game Pass until next July? As I said in an earlier post - it's a discretionary spend. If I agree with the price and I can afford it, I'll buy it - if I don't agree with the price or if I can't afford it, I'll do without it. I'm not going to steal it just because I can like a kid at a lolly store.

Piracy for the sake of it is short sighted - you aren't contributing to a better product and you're in fact placing the product at risk.

Gamepass might be the best "luxury purchase" I've ever made.

but to be honest, it can be brutally awful sometimes. I'm currently trying to watch nfl am. I'm on a 25 mb/s fibre to the home connection. I've just run a speed test and am getting 21 mb/s at the moment. I've downgraded the quality to 400kb/s...

and I can't get more than 5 seconds without it freezing momentarily. it's driving me insane.

edit: it's only nfl network that's buggered. I can watch today's games no problem.

Use a browser that's light. If you use chrome Firefox safari etc they all hog down. I use omniweb for mac. But that's the reason you get that freeze

Thanks GG - I don't know what would constitute a "light" browser on Windows.

In the trouble shooting that the support people gave me, one of the things I did was check CPU usage - I'm only using between 17-24%.

I've changed all the flash settings.

As I said above, there are no problems with my internet connection.

Do others have problem with NFL Network? It just seems very bizarre that NFL Network is the only thing that doesn't work.

I wouldn't say "exquisite" - it's very, very, very good for most of the time. But as an example I watched the condensed version of SD vs Denver this morning, and the quality of it (on maximum quality) was quite ordinary.

I also continue to have problems getting NFL Network to function properly most of the time. I haven't had any problems watching games on Monday though, and they've always been very good quality. So that's the most important thing.
