Banyule good chance to get relegated if they lose Oskar White and Noah Wheeler according to the rumors
I think nth Heidelberg are in trouble - no smith, giobbi, tardio, hunt and there will be more.
No president and very limited money.

Yarrambat juniors now spreading themselves between hurstbridge and Panton hill so may struggle to get 19s

Why did the wait so long to announce him as coach? Surely that would have had a lot to do with players leaving also wouldnt it?
Probably didnt help.
Head down to Sir Henry Barklys tomorrow night, i'm sure Chump or Barrell can answer your questions

Where most news comes from these days

New NFNL headquarters

It's been pretty spot on so far Horsey  Unfortunately, I head interstate today and away this weekend so will need to await Barrell's update to get the next round of rumors and general chitter chatter.

Fair enough, but I think the outgoing coach was announced a fair while before Welsh was appointed. Could be wrong though. Hopefully they can get a few quality recruits
He certainly was

That wouldn't have stopped them appointing someone else, but Preston being the delay for Welsh

My early observation of where everyone sits at the moment.

1. Heidelberg - No detail needed.
2. Hurstbridge - Some quality ins but still need to bridge a 14 goal gap and also lost Cookson. Seem to have a very big piggy bank.
3. Monty - Going to lose a few but will bring in some quality. Couple of ex AFL linked there.
4. Greensborough - Will be fielding a very similar side to last season it seems.
5. Bundoora - Always manage to recruit and stay competitive, will be a big improver in terms of W/L.
6. Eltham - Couple of good ins so far, team has enough Div1 experience now to improve.
7. Diamond Creek - No doubt they will take a few scalps this season, they have been waiting for this.
8. Banyule - Being raided but have brought in a couple good youngsters and Welsh will be busy to bring some more in.
9. North Heidelberg - Losing some of their best, depth will be really tested.
10. West Preston - Lost their only dangerous forward and a handful of fringe players to Pascoe Vale. Not much in yet.

A Melbourne local footy power club has been investigated over salary cap ‘anomalies’

One of the biggest clubs in Melbourne local footy has learned its fate after an investigation by the AFL’s integrity unit found governance issues.

Bundoora has avoided any sanctions over a salary cap investigation by the AFL.

The Bulls’ books were probed after “anomalies” were reported earlier this season.

It is understood a disputed clearance before the mid-season cut-off revealed differing contract figures.

The AFL integrity unit looked into the matter and handed a report to the Northern Football Netball League, which was tabled at a board meeting on Tuesday night.

Governance issues have been identified but no breach of the salary cap.

NFNL board chairman Michael Peacock said the league would work with Bundoora to ensure any issues were rectified.

“The Northern Football and Netball League has received an investigators report from the AFL relating to the Bundoora Football Netball Club matter that has previously been reported in the media,” a league statement said.

“The AFL report identified areas of administration and governance for improvement.

“These matters will be presented to the Bundoora Football Netball Club and the NFNL will work with them to rectify the issues and assist them to improve their governance processes.

“No salary cap breach was identified in relation to this investigation.”

Bundoora declined to comment additionally.

The Bulls can now focus on 2026 after a difficult season saw the club finish ninth in NFNL Division 1, narrowly avoiding relegation.

The club has already signed new recruits.

Richmond VFL-listed midfielder O’Neill Moncrieff, Ryder Jones and veteran ruckman Adam Swierzbiolek.

I have always found the ridiculous administrative burden placed on volunteers would lead to things like this and then being placed under investigation and put in the media is a sad indictment of where local football has become.

There has to be a better way to do things so volunteers just trying to do the right thing and get teams playing footy don't get dragged into issues like this.

Also think the journalist, I know trying to just get clicks should have a better heading, FFS, its 3/4 of the way in the article and he then writes “No salary cap breach was identified in relation to this investigation.” This should have been the heading....."Local Club Did Not Breach Salary Cap Only Made A Small Honest Administrative Mistake, Noone Died"

Very early to say, but if Bundoora play finals that would be an incredible effort after finishing bottom two for the last two years. Obviously a massive club so things can turn quickly for them.

Your prediction here seems harsh on Banyule, but clearly an exodus occurring there. They will certainly miss Loton and the two blokes heading to Eaglehawk. The retirements they would have surely planned for.

Wests departures look as bad as Banyules, if not worse. A massive departure confirmed this morning. Considering they were already the lowest scoring team in the comp, its looking concerning.

Bundoora lost so many close games last year. If they can improve slightly and win them they could easily pinch a finals spot.

Good call and the better clubs pay people to manage the books so a much easier task to make them balance.
What is the DIV1 salary cap in 2026? Rumors suggest that 2 clubs in particular have thrown a heap of cash at players which is what is needed to make some ground up on the Bergs.

Im gonna take a stab and say of those clubs starts with H and end in urstbridge

I think nth Heidelberg are in trouble - no smith, giobbi, tardio, hunt and there will be more.
No president and very limited money.

Yarrambat juniors now spreading themselves between hurstbridge and Panton hill so may struggle to get 19s
President hasnt lasted long if true.
Wonder where Jess is off too.
