It's about 3-4 metres shorter than Macleod, Monty and Greensborough. About 7-8 longer than Lower. Certainly not big, but would be more than adequate for a year
Thanks Mappa, I forgot about Lower! Was at Monty v Eltham this year and ground in good nick and didnt realise size was smaller than others...Greensy ground is horrible surface! I know they have 15 games a weekend on there, maybe sometime soon they can re-surface!

You're right about the traffic, but i believe they resurfaced it with that "winter grass" i think it's called. Turns yellow and dead in the winter but comes good in spring and summer. Personally not a fan, because the grounds are hard as a rock if there's not much rain, and a mud heap if there is. When we played Watsy late in the season, if the ball came in high, it wouldn't sit, but just bounce back over a bloke's head.
We've still got the old tough-as-nails grass at the Garvey. There's a few soft patches, but for the most part, it holds the moisture pretty well.

Good pick ups for Banyule but points will destroy them. Even 4 VFL players are 20 points.

Very good pick ups, but they might not have a choice. Lost a lot Banyule and quality too. What has happened down there? Not saying they will be uncompetitive, but bit of a shame as they’ve built nicely the past few seasons.

Transition can happen at a club, but obviously the timing of some retirements and departures isn't great. They'll be fine, some good recruits in the pipeline or have been announced, and a good influx of youth. Points clearly the elephant in the room but if you can keep a group together for 2-3 years then points aren't an issue and you can recruit to top up

They both remaining in the VFL?
No - full time Banyule.

Unfortunately we have lost some quality players and we do have points to work with.

We still have 18 1 pointers who played senior football this year and have 14 1 pointers up from the 19s.

We are obviously having a reset and besides the boys from VFL are recruiting a lot of youth to set us up for the next 3-4 years.

We will have issues with points during the season (something we haven’t had before), however, a lot of clubs are going through the same issue with changeover of personal and high points. Bundoora have recruited - 3 4s and a 2 3s and they played on 46 most weeks

Not the smartest thing announcing you’ll basically let players walk for better offers
Agree it was a unique way of handling things externally, but maybe it's also a way of just being FULLY transparent with your members, sponsors, other players, etc. IF it is the case that the money being offered to some players / some players are asking for is THAT crazy, then could this be considered just a way of getting on the front foot?

TBH - I'm not really sure what is the right way, but at some stage the piggy bank can only go so far or keeping the majority of the list happy becomes your priority over a few. Who knows, but you may even see more of this from clubs who say 'enough is enough' and we are ok if players walk if the only/key consideration is money.

Getting the balance right of having a core group that want to play together with mates, proud to represent the club, try for success together AND having a couple of well paid top-ups is something that I am sure is a challenge for every club. But, if it's ONLY about the cash ...... then walk on, is my view...... and invest in the juniors/those that want to be there for other elements that drive their motivations to play footy.
