Despite being interstate keeping up with scores all day via the app and the lads from TFNS on Facebook seems a few different impressions of the game from a bit scrappy to tight and decent.

Where does it place both sides? Can the Panthers have a shake at 5th? Do the Boro have what it takes to take on the Tigers? Round 1 is never going to give complete answers especially when it's a marquee style game that adds different pressures only probably able to be experienced in finals.

Two wins from three for the Eltham over the day is something very positive to take from the day I reckon.

Listening to Bongettis interview they played over 50 players last year which is insane for a club. If they get a better run with injuries who knows, Certaintly in the mix you’d imagine
Heidelberg played 55 players in the ones last year so hopefully they’ll get a good run with injuries

The ground looked very average from some of the footage I've seen. Especially the middle? Why were the ball ups across the cricket pitch, looked like they could have bowled 35 overs on it. Not to mention dangerous. Looked like a juniors ground.

I thought Will Mitchell was huge, was everywhere. Good pick up for Boro.

Seems Tom had a fair bit of the ball, I suppose I expected a bit more 😂

Saw him on a podcast recently and he legit said he should still be playing AFL over others currently still in the system.

Elite hands and dirty work inside but slow and a average kick doesn't bode well in how fast the game is at the moment.

Would love to see him potientally vs Heidelberg to see how he stacks up

Panther should definitely be chasing 5th if not higher. Yes it was a bit of a scrappy game but it’s round 1 in April, not to mention boro is a pretty small ground it’s hardly going to be pretty football.

I did hear that the ground (surface) is to be upgraded in '27 followed by Whatmough Park in'28

The ground is what it is. No doubt central is one of the best grounds in the league, as far as surface, amenities and viewing. But he’s two clubs put on a great day every year, alternating home ground. Greensy will make finals and Panthers may. Great day for local footy.

Agree, weird to hear people complain about grounds like this is the AFL. Its local footy, today there is kids and dogs enjoying the ground (and all grounds) as they should.

One of the great things about local footy is one day your at say Hurstbridge on a small ground next at Diamond Creek on a huge one. One day your in the bog someshere next you are on one that has been upgraded and did not have traffic when the rain came.....

Think it was 28 Disposals 11 Tackles. Fair effort considering a heavy tag.
Can someone explain why Mitchell plays as a "private player "on the HG match details ?

I have noticed a few ex AFL guys/people with a profile seem to play as private.

It's an option for all players when registering on Playhq, but I don't actually know the motivation or reasons as to why they choose to play as private.

My understanding is, When he returns full time it will have his name, as he is away for a few games playing at different clubs its doesn’t allow PlayetHq to have his name listed till he is finally full time.

There's probably a couple of reasons - with the amount of attention on players that come through some might want to fly under the radar a bit, but also personal info about where they've played at and how they've been tracking as well. Having said that the option to play as a private player is not ideal when chasing up results and goalkickers.

I was told a few years ago on this app and the one for cricket it started in juniors when parents needed to hide a player due to divorce/seperation issues and has grown legs where you can select to hide yourself.

However as many clubs post teams on social media it makes hiding like this a bit redundant.

Be interesting to see how many VFL PLAYERS play this weekend with a bye across the VFLcomp due to gather round.

Private players in seniors shouldn’t be allowed (unless extreme circumstances). Clubs are entitled to know who they are playing

Agreed, most of the time word gets around who it is though

Wonder if many aus footballers have stalkers

Spot on. Once he dedicates to one club his name will be there. Whilst they are "Touring players" it isnt. Also sometimes it can apply to legal situations for minors. Great question.

North Heidelberg v Heidelberg
Diamond Creek v Montmorency
West Preston v Hurstbridge
Bundoora v Banyule

Can Diamo cause a boilover?

Also a very strong Hurstbridge side
