Everyone knew pretty much all year that the cap was being dropped by 10k so if clubs were signing blokes on the hope that the cap being lowered wasn’t true then that’s their own mismanagement. It’s interesting all the new external signings at Mernda, with a lowered cap they were either paying bugger all last year or all the new signings are playing for bugger all, interesting. l couldn’t imagine their up and coming young blokes wouldn’t be overly joyed

Actually by the leagues own admission, Div 1 clubs knew about their reductions for 2 yrs, Div 2 & 3 weren't made aware of anything beyond 2019 , so 2020 was expected to be 90K Div 3. 2018 100K - 16 games, 2019 90K - 16 games, now 2020 80K - 18 games

How can cap reductions be a positive thing when other leagues caps are higher. Seems to me that players could leave the NFL for higher amounts elsewhere.
Where would that leave the standard of our competition.

Most clubs are trying to pay beyond their means, effectively insolvent... I do agree the cap needs to be mandatory across Vic metro at a minimum and maybe state wide.

It’s still $200 a player average. It’s division 3 plenty should be on $50-$100 with a few well paid superstars or an even spread with most of $100-$300... it can be managed

The league has done great lowering the cap. Alright other leagues pay more but big deal... there’s always another club willing to pay more regardless.

BTW Justin Bentley looks ok if you go by the facebook post, 6 ft, 100 kegs, has played at Northern Knights, Northcote Park, North Heidelberg & Northern Bullants, would be a good free player. Maybe a bit of a mercenary, but looks ok for free.

Their 2s last year were one of the worst sides to have represented 12pm footy. Absolutely putrid. They are chasing anyone now, offering money knowing full well they will not be playing senior footy. Jake Gray the player they got whose style can only be compared to MR Bean if he played footy. Expect another announcement soon of yet another Lalor transfer to the Ping which will ignite a war between clubs. Will make it 5 or 6 to cross over High St

No doubt JB can play. He is a bit of a beast but just needs to get his head right and buy in and if he does and trains reguarly he can be a very very good pick up for them no doubt about that.
