Ressa have picked up what it looks like 2 very handy additions. With Pingers and Kinglake falling away, I would think top 5 (atm) being as follows. I have no idea where Watsonia would be

Laurimar
Ivanhoe
Kilmore
Mernda
Ressa
Watsy
Eltham Turtles
Pingers
Kinglake
West
Lalor
Ladder predictors already.
Top two is easy and then it’s honestly a raffle for the remaining spots in finals from 3-8 at this stage.
I don’t think the turtles or H-West have picked up much but time will tell.

Ivanhoe
Laurimar

Daylight

Mernda
Kilmore
Epping
———-
Reservoir
Kinglake
Watsonia
Turtles
H-West
Lalor

Doing ladder predictions in October? 😂

what have Mernda done to move themselves into 3rd from 7th?

Epping had poor depth last year and have lost plenty, Williamson, Wilkins, Latina, Taylor, Waldron, Alfonsi and a rumoured exit from Macaffer but move into 5th?

Fitzroy have gone up and replaced by Watsonia who have lost a heap so I don’t have them in the 5. Kinglake losing a heap aswell so they will drop out. Therefore I have Mernda being healthy and coached by Nippa moving up a few spots and Epping sliding in. I know Epping have lost a few but I think they can surprise with bringing in a lot of youth. Kilmore to hold there spot in the 5 also.
What do you disagree with there or think I have missed?

As I said I think from 3-8 it’s close.

Those 2 boys join Lowe, Jackson, Annetta, Lawson & Charbel out the door. Big departures and I hear a couple more may also be out the door.
That is big turn over of lost talent for Watsy. Will be interesting to see who they can recruit and/or what it does for next years aspirations.

It's crazy season at all clubs, that's for sure - ins and outs!!

Would be pretty disappointed. Lost their entire core, could’ve been really competitive coming back down. Maybe not on Ivanhoe/Laurimar level but it’s a long way back now.

Player movement across all leagues seems out of control. Great if it's working for you, but not so great if you're trying to build something, especially when the reason for moving seems $ orientated.
3 clubs trying to come back from the dead doesn’t help as well.

I’d be surprised to not see a significant change in the points system in the coming years in attempt to curb player movement

Agree that the points system should continue to be revised as a way to support equity and competitiveness of all clubs as much as possible. IF players are going to highest bidder OR clubs are throwing huge cash at players, then looking at ways to support a system that has an increased points outcome might be a way to help offset some of those two elements.

I'd like to also see a lid firmly put on the salary cap. If it was paused for all leagues, then i cannot see an issue. Does AFL Victoria have any clue what's going on in clubland?

Every time they put it up, clubs have to find more revenue to pay for it. Do they want clubs charging $8 - $9 for a beer? $7 - $8 for a pie? Player rego going up and up? New sponsors for $5K or $10K don't exactly grow on trees. Yet to see a decent argument for why the cap went up again for 2026. (sorry for jumping off topic).

Do you think anyone actually sticks to the cap? Div 1 clubs would be paying double or more.

Can do the smart thing like Hursty and raffle off a car or do the weekly Bridge lotto. Make an absolute mint for the club
