Same? Do they actually have a cap? I did not think they had one at all. Wow, if we have local women's cap we are in trouble.

I think womens football is already in trouble. No salary or points cap with the removal of grading is a cause for disaster. The gap between best and worst in each division could destroy the growth in local women’s football.

My bad - my daughter plays in a different comp where women's payments must be declared and paid under same cap as men (although I am sure this is easy to navigate if the clubs are clever enough)

makes sense to have some sort of equalisation in Women's footy, similar to men's.

I think womens football is already in trouble. No salary or points cap with the removal of grading is a cause for disaster. The gap between best and worst in each division could destroy the growth in local women’s football.

Some leagues do have a salary cap for women’s, NFNL doesn’t

Whats the issue with announcing all your recruits regardless of skill? Plenty of clubs do.

Also the kids won 2 league medals so why wouldn’t you be excited to get him into your club?

My pet hate is two's players and random u19s getting them, its spam and its a bit embarrassing, not to mention the mayo that gets put on them making them out to be chris judd when they are a two's/fringe ones scrapper. I want to see worthwhile players that will make a difference.

No participation trophy's in senior footy, not everyone needs one.

But thats just my two cents.

I think part of the process for some clubs is to welcome people to their club, especially to communicate to members, sponsors, past players, etc as part of a season build. Sure, I get your point that not everyone is a super star and lots of mayo on players for sure, but it's probably more for the club than any other random followers of NFNL or opposition clubs. I'm not that fussed either way TBH, but kind of get the reason why clubs do it I suppose.

PS - our Canteen lady and Bar Manager have put pen to paper and will be back for season 2026!! LOOK OUT.

Nothing against the kid or the club, I just said they must be struggling if he a prized recruit. The better younger talent in the door that they can keep, the better for the club long run though and always been a good club Watsy.. Wish them and him well..

Have you got rid of “junior” and “senior” fridges yet? The differing stock was the only thing wrong with the canteen in 2025!

I see what you’re saying, but social media is a pretty powerful tool these days. Especially guys in that 17-19 age cohort, like if they see friends/friends of friends playing or signed at a club, it can help with other prospective players and also a great way to advertise your program & club.

I reckon clubs announcing 2s players is largely a hype/tongue in cheek thing. Hope Watsy also go well after a tough few years. Ripping club.

On the money here Kanga. The league has no idea of the landscape of women’s footy. Trying to approach it like men’s football demonstrates how out of touch they are. Basing divisions off previous seasons is so dangerous when most clubs that don’t have junior team are still scraping to get a squad of 18-22 together.

Might be one for the committee Bagger, not sure where it sits in their list of priorities but if they read this I am sure it with make the meeting minutes
