This thread is easier to view than your "comedy".
Eltham's schnitty rolls are worth a mention

LP only club in NFNL that voted no to OEC coming in says it all. LP knew that even with an agreement/MOU, RJFC players would naturally be aligned to a club closer to home. LP are in a very interesting situation with many players seemingly leaving or already left, poor U19s and aged reserves in 2022 they need a serious review of their game plan it seems.
you were on the money here!!!!!

Stude289 totally agree.
I would say that Powelltown who beat Kinglake in the grand final would have been the equal of Sth Morang and Laurimar.
Lots of eastern football talent in the Powelltown team.
The difference between the leagues is depth of talent in the 2’s
Kinglake losing C Horman and McNamara will hurt but still plenty of class in their team
I watched the GF between powelltown and Kinglake, and the prelim between sth morang and Eltham Turtles. Powelltown would beat Sth Morang easily.

isnt that big footy summed up?
as long as you get your say tho champ!!!
My 2c is Kinglake got within 15 points of Powelltown.

South would beat Kinglake by 50 this year. How much they’ve improved or dropped off who knows.

But Kinglake are currently holding their own so obviously right up there at this level. Back half of the season will tell us more with kinglake playing away more.

Laurimar by 130 points
Heidelberg West by 56 points
Turtles by 8 points
Mernda by 23 points

Good luck to all teams on the weekend👍

Lalor have forfeited there reserves for the coming weekend already on a Thursday night. There must be enormous concerns for there viability going forward.

Interesting. Second time they have forfeited for the year and had a full team last game. 47 players played throughout the year. To forfeit on a Thursday night smells like throwing in the white flag as a club. Ivanhoe or Old Paradians need to make moves to replace this joke of a club. Once proud but now far from it. Considering the struggles Reservoir have had this last few years they can at least hold their heads up high and have alot of respect for them.

Ivanhoe a huge huge chance. Club will be voting this year to make the move.

Not sure what percentage they’d need from members to make the move. Hopefully it happens

Ivanhoe joining will be a blessing. Old Paradians a chance also?

Would be a 10 team comp if that happened and Lalor decided to have a social football team instead, can only hope…
Last year Lalor forfeited against Laurimar, South Morang and half a game against HW and already this year forfeited against Laurimar.
If the forfeit Saturday is true the league should be forfeiting their reserves for the rest of the year to not compromise a draw any further!!

Can’t expect much less of a club when it’s run by goes who jump on Facebook that make nuffy comments constantly

Reading constitution on our website - 75% of voting members (Life members & Subs paying players) for a special resolution to be passed at an EGM.

This consideration of a move was discussed among some people last night at club and information still being gathered by committee on ALL options available to the club moving forward. I'm told club has been in discussions with both VAFA and NFNL on what that could look like.

Yeah this is something that probably needs to be considered. Once a proud club. 1 step closer to doors closing which nobody wants to see but if you are forfeiting reserve games on Thursday night it clearly has gotten too hard for them. I remember clubs used to have pride and would ring around in a Thursday night, Friday morning asking past players and mates to help out, some players even doubled up at clubs back in the day.

For those not happy paying for the Herald Sun.

This weekend marks the half-way point of the Northern Football Netball League season.

To celebrate we’ve attempted to name our mid-season Teams of the Year.

For balance we’ve named at least one player from every team, so some players from higher-placed clubs have missed out.

But that’s half the fun, debating which players to include and which miss out.

Also unlike previous years we’ve included VFL-listed players.

You’d have got pretty good odds before the season for Kinglake and Mernda to be sitting one-two on top of the ladder at the half-way mark of the campaign.

As such both dominate the 22, with four representatives each, and could have had more with the likes of Bailey and Ethan Robinson and Chris Roussos stiff to miss out.

There’s a good blend of youth and experience in this line-up.

Seb Francis-Perkins, Riley Vincent and Matt Golledge have been outstanding, while the likes of Jai Burns, Mitch Thompson, Daniel Kelly and Leigh Gilbert continue to perform at a high level.

Ryan Evans has been arguably Reservoir’s best player this season and pips Rob Holland for a spot, while Jake Wheeldon has been a shining light for Lalor.

B: Keith Morgan (FS), Matthew Coen (King), Riley Vincent (Mern)

HB: Nathan Andrews (Laur), Tim Ellis (OEC), Mitch Thompson (Laur)

C: Daniel Kelly (HW), Seb Francis-Perkins (OEC), Matt Golledge (Mern)

HF: Chris Barton (Kil), Lachie Evans (HW), Daniel Smith (Mern)

F: Damien Pywell (King), Matt Williamson (OEC), Bryce Kimuliatis (Mern)

Foll: Tom Clarke (King), Luke Wilson (Laur), Jai Burns (FS)

I/C: Ryan Evans (Res), Alex Hywood (HW), Leigh Gilbert (King), Jake Wheeldon (Lal)

Round 9 tips

Reservoir 8th vs Laurimar 3rd Reaervoir return home after another tough loss to Old Eltham with Holland and Pugliese-Thompson toiling hard for them. The power return from the bye and being back Arthur and Bateman and Coach Atkins will be looking for a percentage boosting win. Power by 149 points

Heidelberg West 7th vs Lalor 9th. A tough day for West up in the mountain going down by 46 points with Evans continuing his great form picking up coaches votes along with Offer and Moore. A chance for West to get back in the winners list and depending on the Kilmore vs Old Eltham result they might find themselves outside the top 4 by percentage or a game with Old Eltham win. West by 113 points

Kilmore 5th vs Old Eltham 4th Massive clash at JJ Clancy reserve for Kilmore who look to bounce back from their last round loss to Fitzroy Stars. Again it was the experienced trio of C Barton, Irons and Marrett leading the way. It is up forward where they have struggled with only E Derrick with 11 goals in double figures. For Old Eltham it is the opposite with Williamson (31), Milne (18) proving again to be a good double act. Francis-Perkins has been in terrific form and will be one that Kilmore coaching staff will need to stop. Kilmore will try and make it a low scoring scrap but with Williamson and Milne up forward the turtles will have too much firepower. Old Eltham by 27 points

Mernda 2nd vs Fitzroy Stars 6th An intriguing clash at Waterview between 2 sides coming off good victories. Mernda regain Bongetti but lose Lovegrove-Hudson who has kicked 15 goals so far this season. Kimuliatis broke the club record last round with 15 goals however 26 of his 29 goals have come against teams outside the top 4. Can he repeat another big effort against the Stars. The stars had their best win last round since dropping to division 3 in Lionel Proctor’s 200th game. Peter Hood showed his class with maximum coaches votes and Jai Burns has been outstanding in 2023, these 2 will pose plenty of challenges for Mernda coaching staff. Hedley Smith is another big inclusion for the Stars. Going to pick an upset in this one, I think the Stars will jump back into finals contention with an important away win to finish first half of the season. Fitzroy Stars by 16 points

Enjoy the footy

Fingers crossed Ivanhoe join. Would be a fantastic get for the NFNL.

I can’t imagine teams like Banyule, Old Eltham, Thomastown regret their decisions.

10571z totally agree. Would be great to have Ivanhoe and Old Paradians join division 3
Lalor have great history but time to close the doors, sadly. Walkover in the reserves after a 2 week break and seniors suffering massive losses each week.
10 team competition, Kinglake have been a breath of fresh air for the competition, add Ivanhoe and Old Paradians and division 3 becomes a very competitive competition 1 through 9 and Reservoir are continuing to improve and head in the right direction

Basically the ideal scenario. Not sure of Old Paradians desire though.
