Anyone go and watch bats 17s on weekend or from yarrambat here?

I overheard ex bat players who are now at Hursty saying they got league approval to play 17.5s for yarrambat this season?

And that bats have picked up 6 xavier kids some from as far as Finley..

Doing anything to win a flag by sounds of it..

Re the hursty kids dropping back..Surely playing for two clubs isn’t allowed? If your eligible to play 17.5s stay at yarrambat and play..if you transfer to Hursty, you have to stay there ..yes an mou is in place but that’s for bats juniors to play senior footy, surely not vice versa..

If anything, if they play at Hursty 19s then they need to play for Hursty 17s..

if this is approved by the league its wrong on many levels..
You cant be serious? Under 17 practice already before 95% of Senior teams havent even had one. This isnt normal surely?

I think you'll find its possible to play seniors in another league and still play U17.5 NFNL. refer to Yarrambats U17 grand final side last season.

If they dont play for Husty 19 also they wont have a team

Who? 17.5s playing up is a different story though and gives kids seniors opportunities.

And if you transfer out and back in that is fine. There are rules for that.

But if you leave your junior club and play 19s for a new club, surely you shouldn’t be allowed to play 17.5s for a different club. That is all I’m saying.

What do you mean league approval to play 17s? They are either 17 or not.

No transferring out and back, you can play on a permit between 2 leagues. Playing back and forth between both and after the any clearance cut off. U18/Seniors up bush one weekend U17 Yarrambat the next weekend is the example I was referring to.

Yep, it was the Boomer academy of Yarrambat vs the McGuane academy of Keilor in most, if not all, age groups from u11s up. Although apparently between the two clubs they ballsed up the logistics and some Yarrambat teams travelled to Taylors Lakes only to end up playing each other in a scratch match on a soccer field

What I’m saying is that some yarrambat kids that qualify for 17.5s as turn 18 post July 1 2026 have transferred and some have signed contracts with Hursty for 2026 and will play for their 19s or seniors.

Now for some unknown reason, yarrambat have requested that some of these signed Hursty players be allowed to play 17.5s with them also in 2026.

The league allegedly approved this!

So for example on Saturday they play for Hursty 19s the next day or next week play yarrambat 17s.

It’s not due to a lack of numbers apparently, it is just because yarrambat want to beat Eltham after losing to them in the last 3 GFs.

Thats why they also went out and recruited 4-6 Xavier kids.

So my question was How and why is this club jumping allowed?

They are two different clubs.

The MOU between them is so the yarrambat junior club can be aligned with a senior club not so that senior club players can return and dominate.

If you want to play 17.5s at yarrambat they should be made to register with them and stay there and then no issues, but bats and Hursty trying to bend the rules.

Just thought this might interest some

Well if they play 10 19s games they are unable to return to 17s

Either way if they are 17s age what’s the issue if they play 19s and 17s?

Sounds like we have to agree to disagree on this one.

Entire section in by laws talks about MOUs being a senior pathway, not the other way round.
They have signed and/or transfered to a different senior club. They shouldn’t be allowed to play for a different junior club.

Final qualifications is a different arguement again. But one I can’t be stuffed typing as nfnl finals qualification is a joke.

What a shambles

so has this actually happened? or just all crap? i saw they drew yesterday?
Are Yarrambat playing kids from Hursty 19's?
id be surprised if some Eltham kids in 17's arent playing 19's? so whats the difference?
sounds like a storm in a tea cup to be honest, hence the silence since March?
Every team should be trying to beat the reigning premiers surely ffs

Check their team list for this week.. a couple of Hursty 19s listed.
Difference is two different clubs.. mous designed to assist senior clubs, not for yarrambat to take the piss. Nfnl have no balls when it comes to the bigger clubs.
