Nick’s only weakness is a lack of humour when facing the media. Plays the straightest bat I’ve ever seen.
Reckon there’s a couple of reasons;
  • he’s well aware of the level of hate directed at him and concentrates on his responses.
  • he’s also very respectful of an occasion like the other night.
When he’s relaxed his humour shows, along with his humility, (which might surprise a few oppo. supporters).

Anyone else feel like they're preparing him to be the new captain very soon? Wouldn't be surprised if before next season he is made our new captain to get Moore to focus getting back to his best.

I could be wrong, but don’t the players vote who should be made captain?

I hope not. He's already carrying the midfield and we have a perfectly good captain for now. I think Nick needs quality support in the midfield before he's made captain.

Yeah they do, wouldn't be surprised though if its the general consensus of the playing group.
Not sure why you would think that. Moore seems like a pretty popular captain.

Hard to believe in a captain who is costing crucial goals every week and is playing at an all time worse. Moore stepping down as captain could be similar to how Boak stood down as captain then returned to playing his best footy.

I noticed when I went to the game against Crows, Pendles repeatedly had to shout instructions at Moore in almost every D50 stoppage and looked frustrated at him. Just wondering if there is something else going on.

Sounds like it’s you who wants Moore replaced. It will be the players who decide the captain in 2026. Of course, Moore might decide to pass the responsibility on, but I think it’s more likely he will continue on.

Our poor form over the past couple of months has been a team issue. I think it’s a bit unfair to lay the blame on Moore.

I'm not saying our whole teams issues are based on Moore, it's just a fact he is in career worst form. I do hope he is captain for a few more years though, don't want Daicos to be captain till he's closer to 25ish.

I agree with this and would go even further — if necessary, appointing a short-term captain such as Maynard to bridge the gap. Nick doesn't need the extra burdens of captaincy in the short or even medium term.
Side issue, but it would be a fitting reward for Maynard too.

I think Nick will be our Captain in another 2 or 3 years. Won't be Maynard.

You do if it’s the second half of the season - see Heeney and Bailey for prime examples.
Over the course of the year, Heeney went at over 25 possessions and a goal and a half a game. He was probably the best player in the comp over the second half of the year and was solid in the first half (down by his standards). I don't think you could have possibly left him out. Bailey was bloody good too. I think the team was a forward short though - due to 4 mids on the bench. Elliott was unlucky.

To me the forward locks were: Cameron, Thilthorpe, Heeney and Kozzie. Then there should have been 1 out of Georgiades/Gunston + 2 out of Elliott, Bailey, Rankine, Long.

Maynard's courage knows no bounds. He is what I' call a traditional Collingwood captain. This sort of load would not impact his game style, it would inspire him and those around him.
For mine, Maynard should be our next skipper.
Agree, but it's not going to happen. We look at long term Captains and Nick is next.
Maynard perhaps as Vice.
