Look he was a project player and a gamble and it didn't pay off but like you I see no sense in people referring to any player as hopeless. I get more dirty on the players with real ability that don't apply themselves.

Mate, one of the few sensible posts in this thread no player shoud be referred to as 'hopeless' because most dont know some of the hassles these blokes go through and to sit in judgement of them is woeful and uninformed the guy tried and it didn't work out simple as that.

Tim Walsh had more talent in his left nut that Nick Bruton could ever dream about.

Walsh started off by breaking his leg, then he had a shoulder re-construction, eventually he played seniors where he broke his thumb. The next pre-season he had a ACL. They repaired his ACL with his hamstring tendon which lead to a series of hamstring tears until he was delisted. Nope. Injuries sure didn't intefere with Walsh's career.

The mark Paul Dooley took in the last quarter v Essendon puts him miles above Bruton.

Without looking it up, because I wouldn't know where, I clearly remember Bruton taking an uncontested mark v West Coast and handballing. I think this was the only possesion he ever got (literally). In that game he gave away a number of free kicks at boundary throw-ins. Bruton's career dreamteam score would be well into negative territory.
 
Bruton was as raw as they came - given his frame, he was 5 years off being ready to be on an on a list, let alone getting a game. Equivalent of rating a 14yo midfielder amongst an AFL squad.

But even if he did get 10 years of development into him and everything went right, at best he would been around Street's level.

Last I saw he was working at VU gym. What school is he teaching at?
 
If you go onto the bulldogs website and go into the players section, there is three parts SENIOR, ROOKIE and PAST.

There is a picture of him in the PAST players section.
 
For all the baggers of Nick Bruton it wasn't his fault. He was just too skinny for a guy so tall. His should span was as big as a 15 year kid. His ability and mobility was not that bad. I met Nick through the local area on many occasions and he had a fantastic attitute, his head wasn't in the clouds he new it was going to be difficult but gave it his best shot. Not the worst ever on our list.

Remember Paul DiGoveni (something like that) Bad but another good kid, used to sit next to his mum and it was funny as she said we didn't even expect him to get drafted.

I go to the high school as well. His my sports teacher i remember him being a dud to be hounest but bad run with injuries
