Mega Thread Nick Daicos - Can he be the GTWEB? Part 2

Not really, been saying for years the AA is the best award for determining how good a player is. Not perfect by any means, certainly has its faults, but it is a much better award than any of the others we have.
And Daicos has 3 x AA in his first 4 seasons.

Who is the last player to have done that?

Has it ever been done?

No idea, but I am just saying he was on the bench in 2025, which goes against your belief he is the best player in the competition. If he was the best player in the competition he would be in the 18.
Throw the AA data in with the results of all the major awards, and who comes out on top?

But no surprise your focus is on AA position selections.

I focus on the AA as I always focus on the AA. Richmond fans did not like me pointing out AA with Martin either.

Again, not saying Daicos is a bad player, he is a top 10 player, just saying he is not the best player in the competition.

That's your opinion, which you're entitled to.

But you're in the vast minority.

Create a poll then asking "is Nick Daicos the best player in the competition" and see if I am in the minority.
'In my top 10', that is 'outside my top 5' is in the minority.

When the player has performed as the best player in the competition over the past 3 years, based on measurable results of all major individual awards available, and has been unanimously ranked in the top 2 of every list released since the end of 2023.

But again, you're welcome to your (minority) opinion.

I agree

Every other thread with speculation about a players standing has had a thread poll.
Seems strange this thread doesn’t have one.

It actually did have one, but it wasn't carried over to part 2.

From memory, approximately 40% of posters voted that he could be the GOAT.

Not sure we'd see a number that high for any other player after their second year in the system.

The fact you have 1100 posts on this thread indicates it does not. If it spoke for itself you would not need that many posts trying to convince people.
Daicos promotes discussion.

Why are you so vehemently refuting it if it is so obvious that he's not? Despite all the data to the contrary.

Noone has been spoken about more than him in their first 4 years in the system.

He does promote discussion. Every basic disposal is raved about like he’s performed a piece of play never before seen.

Yep, some more inane crap about how you think he had a poor game in the PF and doesn't influence on the scoreboard despite contributing to more of his teams scoring in 2025 than Bont, Heeney and Petracca.
I thought Bontempelli had the most score involvements in 2025.

Would be a fair effort if he missed 5 games and didn't play finals...
I wasn't actually asking you.

But since you mentioned it ... if he's so good why didn't he win the Collingwood B&F this year?

If he is the greatest player ever why has he only won his club's B&F once?

Not sure when I or anyone else has said he's the greatest player ever.

But that probably doesn't suit your narrative.

Raw score involvements yes. But that is due to Dogs game style, 3 of the top5 players for raw score involvements and 8 of top 40 were Dogs.

Dogs were highest scoring team 2493, but also had one for the worst points against 1820 of the decent top 9 teams.

Pies were lowest scoring team of the decent top 9 teams 1991, but had the best defense 1627.

Being involved in 7 score involvements at the Dogs was much easier than at Collingwood or Freo let alone Carlton, North or Essendon because the Dogs just played a free wheeling high disposal high scoring game style that looked great when they got on top, and meant the Dogs were #1 team for playa ratings, but still missed the 8.

They do track proportion of individual players score involvements compared to total team scores, Daicos was involved in a higher proportion of the Pies scoring than the Bont, Heeney, Petracca in 2025.

Seen the thread title?
The thread title is - Nick Daicos - Can he be the

Nobody is saying he already is.

The thread was about how his career is tracking, and how after 2, 3 and 4 seasons his achievements pretty amazing...

The thread poses the question IF he has the regular improvement arc as he physically matures and can maintain (or improve) on his performance for a decade then he might be a great.

Are you Fadge? Cos that's who I was talking to, anyway he's been hinting at it since he started these threads, he just doesn't have the balls to say it outright cos he knows how stupid that will look when the guy can barely win his own club's B&F.

The thread asks the question "Can he be the greatest there will ever be?" not "can he be a great." I don't think anyone denies he has the potential to be one of the great players of his generation.

Perhaps this thread should pose the question HOW LONG, given his current downward trajectory (approx 5-20% depending on the specific metric) since his second season, till he struggles to average 15 possessions per game and kick five goals in a season. Five years?

Both questions are on a par really.

And yet people would go on for hundreds of posts trying to out stubborn each other and gain some imaginary advantage.

Can't people just enjoy footy? all of it, without the BS
