Sco I can only go on what you post.

I’ve shared in different versions of all the memories that have linked us as a collective to Collingwood. Just because I choose not to become invested in those with complete ****ing strangers (all due respect to most on here) doesn’t mean I’m some sort of analytical mastermind that’s missing out on the true essence of being an emotionally invested fan…

If you’re an adult male wearing a footy jumper to matches then yeah you’re cringe.
It’s been a while since I’ve been to a footy match possibly before I was 18. But I wouldn’t have given wearing a footy jumper a second thought. What’s the recommended attire?

Whatever you feel comfortable in is what immediately springs to mind! However if you buy my latest book “7 ways to not be cringe at the footy” it lists the appropriate Collingwood merchandise for males to wear at games as a polo for early and late season matches then scarf and beanie for the middle of winter. A little scoop for those not interested in buying the book number 1 is not screaming “just kick it” when a team is linking up by hand or a player is hesitating…

Soft.
I wear my polo all season long.
Scarves are for Dees fans.

I am in total agreement with this one. Does my head in when people do the automatic "just kick it" as a panacea to all our game plan issues

Certainly not trying to imply anything of the sort Sco. You're passion and commitment to the club is obvious and heart warming.

I am just trying to highlight the differing viewpoint you have to a barracker.

You seem to find enthusiastic and wholehearted support for the club distasteful - if not offensive. That sort of undemanding support is exactly what a true barracker is all about.

I would define it as purely an age related difference where people of my age or slightly older and slightly younger can be very definitely tribal in our barracking of the club. The younger people mostly take a more demanding and pragmatic approach to supporting the club.

As I intimated in my post right at the start neither approach is wrong, it's just a different mindset.

For my part I can see both sides of the coin but tend to be more of a barracker than a supporter.

If my poor posting skills has led to an impression that I view you as cold and dethatched from the club I understand your retort and apologise for any offense you felt.

How about, “move the feckin thing!”

Didn’t you know that people who analyse the footy can’t enjoy it and are missing out. You missed all the beautiful football we played last season because you were too focused on Madgen’s shortcomings.

It extends to movies and tv shows as well. What the main character of the pro gal movies was written to be a pathetic loser and betrayed all his ideals and values in the sequel/reboot. Well your missing out on the great movie infront of you because you thought about it too much!

What you didn’t like the ending of GOT? Well you’re the one missing out because you can’t ingnote all the characters on screen making mind numbly stupid decisions.

What about screeming ball for when your unsure of what’s going on, is that a solid tactic?

You mean they’re for winners? In all seriousness though kudos to you I hate the cold with the fire of a thousand suns so no way am I rocking a polo to mid winter matches unless we relocate to Brisbane…

I agree that his ideal position is easily inside mid.

I just think due to his slim frame, you probably don't want to expose him to AFL physicality just yet. Also taking a long term perspective, now is the only time when he can focus on improving forward craft without major midfield responsibilities. And if he were to become a top 5/top 10 midfielder in the comp, he probably needs to add this aspect of his game as well.

Also it could be a coincidence but, Brownlow medalists and top 3 mids in the comp generally start their careers in the forward line, as later on it can be hard to ensure midfield performance + learn a secondary role. If you think about Dustin Martin, Marcus Bontempelli, Christian Petracca, Nathan Fyfe, Gary Ablett, Patrick Dangerfield and for us Dane Swan, Dayne Beams and Steele Sidebottom, they all became the players they are today due to that apprenticeship in the forward line.
Dangerfield does not belong in that company.
Very good player, very over-rated.

I actually think Dangerfield has had 2 specific seasons that reached a level Dusty didn’t even get close to throughout his entire career.

Danger imo doesn’t just deserve to be part of the conversation but is at the very top of that list

Lucky you, I think of Jason Wild and Stephen Patterson....
I always said your generation are conditioned for mediocrity.

Mcdonalds, Reality TV, Rap music.

It's shit sandwiches all the way down for you lot.:D:D:D:D

Each to his own.
Maybe you saw some games I didn't?
Never been a fan on the footy field personally.

See I get that because I was emotional… When I was 10! I mean grown men being attached to 35 because the Macedonian Marvel wore it in 90 is as cringe as them wearing footy jumpers to matches.
Any of us caring whether Collingwood kick a ball through some sticks more often than the other team is pretty bloody odd when you get down to it - but we do care and enjoy caring for some strange reason.

There have been times in the last few years when we were ridiculously handball happy and just kick it was apt. More swearing inserted to the phrase was ideal during those times.

I wouldn't play him as a forward. We already have an excessive supply. If anything, we need a backmen. Again, Daicos is wasted there. He's really a pure mid, there to win the clearance because this year we seemed to lose every centre bounce.

You have managed to miss every point I made good job
