Have heard that he is out of contract at seasons end, would love him at Carlton but what would we need to give up?

Whitnall + Livingston + 3rd round pick
or
Whitnall + Houlihan
or
Whitnall + 1st round pick
or
Houlihan + 1st round pick

Thoughts?

Can i just ask why the F**K would the Saints want Whitnall, with Reiwoldt/Gehrig?????

AW17,

I highly doubt whitnall will get us a top liner

A late first round pick and possibly a player is the best we can get IMO

Too many of our supporters overate him when he has done nothing for 4 years

Nick Dal Santo.... will be hard to pick him up, we would have to give them some bloody good players...

But, what good players can we give them?

Besides Lance, and Livingston...

I would much prefer Houla to stay put, but I would trade him for Dal Santo.

Lets be honest here...Dal Santo would be in our top 5, so we'd have to give away the cream from our list in order to get him and we aren't going to trade the stevens and lappins and fevolas so lets get realistic!
And also why in the world would he want to leave the saints. Why would the saints get rid of him. Hes all class. Some of the threads are just plain stupid and unrealistic!

Agreed Mighty Blues. The Saints would have to have rocks in their heads if they let Del Santo get away. If it came to a money crunch the Saints would go with 35 or 36 players on their list or run next year without rookie's list if meant the difference between keeping or losing someone of Del Santo's class.

We haven't got anyone that the Saints would want that we couldn't afford to lose. Let's be a little real here.

Some of our supporters have very bad tendency to over rate our middle of the list players.

Under most circumstances clubs' won't give up quality players for mediocrity in return.

i sense a theme here, u just wanna get rid of whitnall???

how bout whitnall for andrew williams, straight swap :D

geez Whitnall was one that promised to deliver so much 3-5 years ago.

How crushing it must be for Blues fans to watch him spiral past mediocrity.

If the Saints are to involve themselves at all in the silly season one would think it would only be for tall defenders

Saints have a few fairly formidable talls in there forward line with hamill/Gherig/Riewold and possibly Koschitke when resting so Whitnall is of no value to the Saints. Dal Santo is cut from the right stuff and no doubt neither of those two players would suffice in a swap.Carlton is developing the same problem as the pies in that your 'tradability' is limited. Your quality/class is in some of your younger kids ie Waite/Walker/Norman so u would never trade those types. The rest is a work horse type list.
As for the Blimp-nall he no doubt has the runs on the board from 3+ seasons ago but his last few years have been riddled with injuries and poor form as a consequence. The Blimp given his salary will be hard to trade without taking a pay cut.

Although he seems to stitch us up every time we play them, I believe he was found out big time during this years finals series, as an outside receiver who crumbled under pressure and not willing to take the big bumps.

I'd rather look at Hodge or Ball....

st kilda traded pick four a few years back to carlton and they pick luke livingston so no way will we want him back he is a dud, dal santo will stay.

A player of Nick Dal Santo's class would have to have rocks in their head to go from a quality side to a side who is in the re-building progress like the saints a few years back, it would be like going backwards.

Carlton will be back up their soon there 1 year behind the saints, they are the saints of 03
