While I think he may get a few more games this year floating between the Ressies and the Firsts I think Paul Roos does not feature him in the swans plans.

My synopsis is that there are only so many times you can tell a senior player he is not trying hard enough and were in the third year of the coach doing that. I don’t think it's unfair to suggest the relationship between Davis and Roos is not all that conductive for the environment for either of them and barring a major scale improvement it is looking likely that Davis will be leaving at the end of the season.

Do people agree? disagree? do they think we will be able to use Davis in some kind of trade and which clubs may be interested in him.

I would love to see Nick pull his finger out and be awesome, but I think you may be right :(
I would as well but if he does go I hope we can get a second round pick for him. With alot of future talent going to be snapped up by WS and GC another pick in next years supposedly awesome draft may be handy for the future.

I feel you don't leave a player out of the side for a month after a poor game if you see any productivity left in the player to contribute to the side, Obviously Roos thinks Davis has no contributions left now and in the future to give to the Sydney team, Davis on the other hand feels he is a scape goat when results don't go our way, eitherway i don't think it's a healthy relationship don't think it has been for a while.

Given that Davis is on a year to year performance contract which is meant to entice against complancey it doesn't bold well for him.

Nicky boy has had the writing on the wall for some time now. Like someone elese said, you dont drop a player for a month after 1 average game, you usually give them at least 2 or 3 to see if they can pick up. Something about Davis that just doesnt gel with Roosy, aparently his laziness, but theres gotta be more to it than that. Its ashame but it blatantly obvious. Davis will not be a Swan in 2009, that's for sure.

You never really know unless you can get inside info. It's quite possible that Davis just isn't following the instructions Roos is giving him. I hope we can get the best out of him by the end of the season. It would be devastating to see him go to another club and do a medhurst on us.

Nick Davis will be back. Its just that he needs to work harder and put in a lot more effort; what Roosy says is right. His work rates needs to improve and boost his confidence.

NO ____ING WAY !

Everybody has lapses in form .. Hally had the whole of the 06 GF and part of last year without injury, but everybody's been getting stuck into Nick for his 3 games this year. If a month or so in the reserves grants him the ability to work on the deficiencies Roos has outlined, then so be it - just don't think we'll be seeing him out of the side too soon. Baz and Magic aren't going to be around for too long now .. :)()

Sorry, but I'll be showing the stubborness SouthSwans has with Mathews towards Nick Davis.

No need to apolgise.

I'm not judging Davis just making an observation on what I read between the coach and Nick. Davis one saving grace could be if Longmire is the earmarked coach and he has plans for Davis.

Haha now you know the feeling too :p
Yep.

You know, at the Junior Members' Function i took my brother to, Nick looked chuffed that I actually had his number on my back and asked him to sign it.

I definitely know how you feel SS. Must've been pretty devastating when the fans are asking for their head, but when the coach as good as said it too ...

Nick Davis is a tremendously talented footballer. But he has to play according to the game plan which includes toughness in attack, chasing and endeavouring to keep the ball in the forward line. He can play tight and tough eg last quarter 2005 grand final. Let him serve his time and see what eventuates. Sydney would not want to see Nick playing against them. I think and hope that he will still be there in 2009.

There was a rumour that he is on a long term contract and is signed up until 2011, is that true?

This could make it very difficult to trade and if he is not part of Roos plans then that is a long time to spend on a list without playing him.

Im not sure when his contract is up but Nick Davis is certainly part of Roos long term plans as on his day Davis is a amazing player. Paul Roos has put him in the reserves to try and help him regain some form but as soon as he has then Roos will put him straight back into the first team.

Yep, there was an article in the paper by his manager the other day and it said that he was contracted until the end of 2011.

I certainly wasnt expecting that (if its true). When in form Davis is a good player. He wasnt in bad form last year when he played 18 games and kicked 33 goals. Most people would accept 33 goals in 18 games for their 3rd forward. If he can return to his 2007 form he will be back in the team.

I'm sorry to be sounding condescending, but do you have a source for this ?

I've been saying that every year. Now I've almost given up on him. The guy does not tackle or put any effort in unless the ball lands on his chest. His effort against north was pathetic, the match was there to be won and he seem timid or apathetic, just pathetic, I was glad when roos dragged him towards the end of the game.

I used to love nick, my alias is a tribute to him, i'm grateful he got us into the 2005 gf, I attribute a big part of my enjoyment of the 05 flag to him BUT i'm at the end of my tether with him. I'm sick of hearing him say 'this year is the year' during the preseason and then dishing up soft, insipid performances, ala north melbourne.

Having said that, there is nothing that would please me more than nick to come good before the end of the season, i don't see this happening.

I was happy when I saw you guys had dropped him for last weeks match. I reckon he is the sort of bloke who can turn it on out of the blue and his general accurate kicking was probably what you needed in the end. Having said that, you can;t carry guys who are out of form so it was probably right to do but I was glad.

No offence but usually opposition supporters (other than collingwood) have no idea the little impact nick davis has on a game. For some reason they overrate him. I went to the swans roos game with a roo friend and he said the same thing about nick as you did and left knowing what us swans fans know.

I think he needs to be sat down by the leadership group and be told that they do want him in the side, and they do want him to stay at the Swans and that they will back him. I don't think all the negative talk will do him any good. If you tell someone you believe in them, they are much more likely to believe in themselves.

Whether he actually wants to get up off his arse and make the effort is another matter. But he also needs to hear that if he wants to make the effort that we will back him.
