It's bedford, he is our source for Swans official info.
lolol :D

I wouldn't be persisting with this, but as for you with Benny M, Nick Davis is a touchy issue with me. I'll accept he's out of form and being a lazy prick at the moment, but he is far from washed up and unneeded in the team.

Micky O has created a niche for the elite goalkicker that supports the spearhead and complements him with Hall very nicely, and, although Nick doesn't have the height of Mick, he does have a good mark, is a brilliant kick and although he can't sustain it has slightly above average acceleration.

There are going to be games where he gets smashed, but that comes part and parcel with a small forward .. just look at Schneider.

I think he needs to be sat down by the leadership group and be told that they do want him in the side, and they do want him to stay at the Swans and that they will back him. I don't think all the negative talk will do him any good. If you tell someone you believe in them, they are much more likely to believe in themselves.

Whether he actually wants to get up off his arse and make the effort is another matter. But he also needs to hear that if he wants to make the effort that we will back him.
Seems Inspo went through this not so long ago.

Reaping the benefits from that one ..

There was a rumour that he is on a long term contract and is signed up until 2011, is that true?

This could make it very difficult to trade and if he is not part of Roos plans then that is a long time to spend on a list without playing him.
based on how keen davis was to get back to sydney when we got him from the pies, i can't imagine he'd want to be moved out of sydney again
and i very much doubt other clubs would be willing to give up much, if anything, for a player who's 28 (i think) and carries such a poor reputation for his work ethic
his matchwinning feats are also fewer and further between than they were
i think we'll know before the season's out if davis has a future with sydney
i suspect he might be afforded maybe ONE more chance in 4-6 weeks, but if he does come back and turns in an effort like he did against the Roos, that'll be it
roos has shown this season he is willing to give our young players a crack, i can't see him wanting to waste too many more opportunities on davis

I think Davis is worth it. If he gets going again, he could keep playing and contributing to the Swans for another 3-5 years. We've had plenty of young kids in this season so far and we're only 8 rounds down, we can afford to put Davis back in.

we have no obligation to play him
the point i was making was that the club is kinda stuck with davis
he will be worth pretty much nothing in terms of trade

agree, and to those saying roos should give nick another chance, that's all he's done. I've no doubt roos has tried every way imaginable to get the best out of davis but it's not working. We cannot afford to have players who don't tackle in our team. Davis doesn't seem to try, I don't understand swan fans who aren't fed up with his softness.

He isn't soft - he's lazy.

Laziness can be drawn out, but soft players are soft from the start and that makes it very, very hard to change.

He isn't soft

semantics. Bottom line is he doesn't do what we need him to, therefore chances are, if things don't change he will be delisted at the end of this season.

bait for what? is there a club in the market for a lazy, egotistical almost 30 small forward with oodles of natural ability and a shite work ethic?
apart from fremantle, i mean
Theres always clubs willing to have a crack at turning a player like Davis around given the enormous upside if it pays off. Still though.... if it comes to the point where we have to trade him then we're not going to get a lot anyway.

:D All jokes aside, i honestly believe freemantle would be the only team who would consider picking him up.

I seem to recall all this happening before. 2006 almost caused a civil war amongst some Swans fans when he was dropped, but when he returned he was like another player.

I haven't written him off yet.

Nick is an enigma. I've been critical of Roos' handling of him this season, but he got a chance to redeem himself and looked awful. Will he back? I hope so but he'll have to jump through the hoops Roos puts in front of him. If he comes back in and has the yips for 2 games in a row again that will be that and there will be no trading him. He'll simply be delisted.

Apparently he is fitter than ever before wants to go in midfield and such (pre-season this year)
and i thought he was good against st kilda this year made a couple of tackles put in a great effort but once he got dropped he lost it after that...

I say put him in the midfield or half back flank...whilse malceski is out injured gaining match fitness ect....and when malis back rotate him through midfield and try him as a small full foward a.k.a Mark Williams

Give him a chance i would still rather players like davis in our team over mathews somone who can actually win a game on his own boot...

incidently what has happened to jarrod crouch?

Got some very info on Davis, has been told this is his last chance, put in or be delisted.i would love to know why he was signed on such a long term contract.Good player at his best but as we know very unreliable.
I actually still thought he was on a year to year performance based contract which imo would of been better suited for Davis would of kept him hungry.

Nick Davis wouldn't get a game as a backmen. Couldn't dislodge C Bolton, Mattner, Super Ted, LRT, Leo, Kennelly or Malceski when he's back.

There's no point putting him down the back in the firsts. Wtf. Who would he replace? And we need decent forwards. When he is in form he is our best kick by far.

He has to play Roos's game and win, otherwise he's gone.

I love him though, I really want him to stick it to Roos and the critics. In the nicest way possible, of course, his attitude will have changed along with his skills!

Its not a matter of who he would replace .. apart from Micky O we don't really have an elite pocket small forward in the team, which admittedly is not too important until Mick does decide to leave the club.
Moore has done his best as a small forward/midfielder, so he doesn't fit that role.

Even though it kills me, Nick's role is practically redundant unless he learns to play beyond the pocket and kick (and tackle) all around the place.

Despite missing goals in the last game he played I still think he is dangerous in the 50. The youngsters are starting to show a little inconsistency except for perhaps Moore. Yes for the good of years to come the youngsters should be blooded but I'm not exactly wanting to give up on this year yet. We aren't a top four side like everyone was saying after the Port and West Coast wins. We haven't won since Barry Halls exit so I think there is still a spot for Nick but it is now up to him to really give Roos no choice but to pick him by playing well in the magoos. Ben Matthews was rewarded after playing well so it's up to Nick now.

Good luck to him I want to see him back kicking crucial goals which he is capable of doing.
