well what are we defining as a good game for nick?

others on the team arent judged as heavily. Lrt, bevan etc, how many under 10 possession games do they have, how many under 5?

not bagging those guys, but why is so much expected of davis. He isnt a superstar but he has given us pretty good service and is a lot better performed than some in the current 22.

Don't get me wrong ,I admire much about him, and wish he would have turned the corner.

The mantra right from the very very beginning of Roos coaching was:

NO heros, even consistent contribution, no lairs, no bigheads, no selfishness, strict player leader enforced rules/discipline, on field sustained defensive pressure and accountability, one on one game.

If you hadn't noticed it worked!!!! He took the same group many of them earmarked for delist, and took them to finals ever since and 2 GF's:)

I dunno what Davo does or did but it is as plain as day he is not respected or part of the core player group! Otherwise I reckon stats or lack of goals would not damm him.

But BS! like " Oh well if to have to go elsewhere so be it" or whatever was quoted earlier..... or " I will win a Brownlow", "I wanna be captain" or "I am a scapegoat" or "I won the premiership" (note you must earn the right to be funny or sarcastic;))...is not the attitude we would want to see in someone desperately doing everything he can to get a chance to play for the SWANS team!

Of course I don't wish injury but he would have to hope for descimation and perform like "Cuzz on coke!" from here on in 2008... otherwise he is gaaaaaawwwn!

based on what?

what part of his attidude was wrong in round one? when he was dropped?

from all reports, his training, his whole attitude to getting the best out of himself etc, it doesnt add up to a winning formula, dont get me wrong, Im a Davis fan, just think he doesnt give 100%, thats all I'd ask from my players, even if they werent as gifted as him!

After reading the BS in The Daily Telegraph, which may still be half-truth, I'm just going to sit back and let it happen. He's my favourite player, but if he gets a better go at another club, so be it.

The obvious thing is, if he does manage to push his way back in, then he must be doing the right things, and how much more dangerous as a side would it make us..... Go Davo!!!!!!:thumbsu::thumbsu:

What a phenomenal load of rubbish.

I realise that you are limited to short one line sentences. But what is?
The blocks or first 3 quarter performance?

I am (have) been prepared to accept he was clearly BOG! and indeed on review did some good things earlier!

But get your tapes... and compare with O'Keefe in PF 2006!

He can't mark as well, can't run as far, no one would expect him to,..... but Davo should watch that game till the tape wears out... so he learns it is a 120minute red hot go that is required of a "champ"!:)

PS... If your response is "the computa says no!" don't bother!!!

"did nothing till last quarter" is plainly ridiculous.

Of course he needed the rest of the team to kick the last goal. However the rest of the team needed him more.

Judging by Roo's comments i expect Davis will be back in the next month. I think he wants him up and firing come finals time.

He has said numerous times he is in our best 22 and that if he does the right thing he will be back.

It seems his goal accuracy and lack of fitness were as much to blame as his defensive pressure, maybe if he gets those 2 right in the ressies he will be back.

Lets hops so, i cant stand watching plays..hit running around for much longer.

No-one really knows what's going on except the coaching staff of course. But Roos said exactly what you'd expect him to say publicly, that's all, after being forced onto the defensive by Davis's manager. I certainly wouldn't read those comments as being genuine support for a recall of Nick Davis to the team. His comments that the manager does not understand the AFL trading system do seem a little desperate.

The cynic might even argue that Roos, by suggestng that Davis is still in the best 22 of the 4th placed team in the competition, has commenced the trading of Davis already.

To the enemy???

Davis flags interest in move west

By Jason Phelan 8:34 AM Fri 18 July, 2008

Out-of-favour Sydney Swans forward Nick Davis has expressed a desire to play for West Coast if he is to part ways with the 2005 premiers at the end of the season.

Davis, 28, comes out of contract at the end of the year and has spent most of the season in the reserves, managing just three senior games with the last being the controversial draw against North Melbourne in round six.

"The best-case scenario would be that I remain here in Sydney, but if not, I have to look elsewhere and, certainly, playing at West Coast would be a great challenge," Davis told Melbourne newspaper The Age.

"I’d definitely love to play with them. I barracked for the Eagles as a kid, they’re a great club, a very professional club and looking at them as an opponent in recent times, they’ve probably struggled a little bit in the forward line.

"I think I’ve got at least four or five good years left."

Davis, who began his career as a father-son selection for Collingwood before he was traded to the Swans in 2002, has played 168 AFL matches since making his 1999 debut.

His final-term heroics in the 2005 preliminary final against Geelong were a key factor in ensuring the Swans' path to the grand final where they scored a famous victory over the Eagles.

The enigmatic forward will take no further part in the Swans' 2008 campaign after dislocating his left kneecap and tearing ligaments which will see him undergo surgery next week.

"I’ll make a full recovery and be ready to go again by the start of pre-season," he said.

"If the Eagles wanted me train with them so they could have a look at me, I’d be more than happy to do that."
