Nick Holman - 2 weeks- overturned, free to play

Exactly - look at all the accidental head knocks when players bump (legal action) - MRP suspending ANYONE that dare touch the head even if the original action is legal. Tom Hawkins gets suspending for flicking a players neck - meanwhile pinned arm smashing a players head into the ground - all good. The Tribunal have just given players the rights to pin arms and smash players into the ground knocking them out - well done.

Embarrassing post

Again what did you want him to do? Parachute or something in front of Duncan? It was just a football accident these things happen. We can’t be suspending every single accident in footy.
It was no more a football accident than heads clashing in a bump and a player being concussed. When does duty of care stop? If you bump you are told you have a duty to ensure heads don’t clash. But if you lay a tackle the consequences are irrelevant?

Posters keep describing Holman’s tackle as “perfect”. It wasn’t IMHO because Duncan was concussed and subbed out. And if we see a few more incidents like this (where the arm is pinned) you can bet the AFL will crack down.

So where do we stop, or continue.
Someone goes for a mark and knees someone in the back of the head but holds the mark. Player is concussed so MRO gives marking player 2 weeks.
Someone spoils the ball, hits all ball but body contact causes player going for the mark to fall forward concussing themselves. MRO determines player laying the spoil caused the player going for the mark to fall forward concussing themselves and gives 2 weeks.

Little extreme yes but not too far from a couple of calls already this year.

Agree. So if accidental head clash in a bump causes concussion then that should not be suspension-worthy. Or we go the complete opposite and declare all head contacts causing concussion suspension-worthy.

There was a slight difference with the Holman case which the Tribunal dismissed so it is moot, and that's the fact that Holman had Duncan's arm pinned and the way they fell meant Duncan could not brace himself

That, and Holman got Duncan right in the act of kicking, which contributed to Duncan not being able to protect his own head. It's unfortunate timing but that doesn't make the tackle illegal or negligent, and I'm glad the tribunal had a more sensible interpretation of it than that arseclown Christian. Gleeson is the other one I feel a bit bad for: imagine fronting up to the Tribunal every second week trying to argue whatever complete nonsense Michael Christian has made up this time.
