Re: Nick Malcheski- ACL

You honestly have to ask why was such a crucial player being played in the NAB Cup! Honestly there were players rested that were less important to the Swans than Nick Malcheski is to their structure. Very dumb decision to play him in a hit and giggle comp!

easy to say that in hindsight isn't it, to say it was dumb to play him? by the way, who else were they going to bring in? I think every inexperienced kid they had on the list was playing.

I was saying this when the teams were announced. No reason to risk important players until a week or so before round 1, especially at a very ordinary ground in Tasmania! They could have just put a bloke who plays in the reserves in anyway.

were you saying this just about him? because if you were talking about all good players in general, sydney rested better players. there was no one else left. also, that surface looked unbelievably good.

Re: Nick Malcheski- ACL

In hindsight its tempting to blame playing maleski in a nothing match because of what its cost us. But that is bullshit, maleski could have done his knee in round 1 and we'd be in the same position.

Also we rested at least 12 of our regular first team. Even in the NAB Cup you cant rest the entire first team. Some of your better guys have to play.

Re: Nick Malcheski- ACL

yeah he's important for us but that reveals more of a gap in the swans rather than skill LRT might have. I don't mind him but he's far away from being a smart footballer. He often passes it off to a teammate who is about to be tackled and he has full view of this. Yeah, his disposals need work.
i thought you were talking about mcveigh,he's the won who panics with his disposal.
the bloke should have nearly won a norm smith medal.

yes, i've always maintained LRT put in the BEST GF performance for us and I do like him and think he's valuable for us BUT his disposals can be frustrating to watch, he aint the smartest footballer - let me qualify this again, i do like him.

Don't get me started on mcveigh and ben fking matthews (bfm)

The way it looked when it happened, it might have even happened if he was trying to cross a busy road in his spare time!

I'm dumbfounded how such a major injury can occur with such an innocuous movement. Zero contact and a fairly minor change of direction.

Can anyone say if it's the same knee he did last time???

Its the right knee, he did the left knee last time.

Really feel for the bloke and I hope he has a speedy and full recovery.

Wayne Schimmelbusch was the same. He had the ball in hand, running in a straight line, and bang, it just went on him.

His first one in 2002 was his left, this was is his right. I saw him at the airport after the game and he looked shattered. You could tell by his fails expression that he was still in a bit of shock. Shattering news for any player who has the misfortune of doing such an injury.

Good player. Always terrible to hear.Hopefully he can get back quick enough. Tough on the Swans. Cant see them making the 8.

Really bad news for the swans, he's a great player and will be missed across the backline. Thought some of your young guys were really good yesterday may make some of those critics of "too old" reassess.
Why? They are too old and they introduced kids in a nAB Cup game. If they did it in the regular season they would shake the tag, but all they have done is play them in one nAB Cup win. Couple of kids went well so they should get a run during the season.

Hes already been replaced by Kenneally and Mattner.
Mattner isnt in the same class as Malceski. Will soften the blow a tad but not much. Couldnt see them making the 8 with their rapidly ageing list but now I just cant see it happening. Takes a while for players to get back to their best form after doing an ACL.

What are you co-dependent? Has the deep pessimism of following a mob of pretenders who die in the arse by Round 4 created a morbid interest in failure? Malceski is a good player but not a champion. Yes he will be missed but he will be more than replaced by Kenneally who is a better and stronger player off the half back line and with the addition of Mattner nothing will be lost in the wash up. Thanks for the condolences and tears but save them for the genuine tragedies and failures such as Essendon.
