St kilda went on to finish top third, lose to brisbane, smash sydney by 50 points in the next final, before bowing out to the eventual premiers. The following year they also finished top 4 and won a final. So you are comparing apples and oringes my friend

Desperately trying to find something positive....

all I can come up with is..... a reco now means he ought only miss one season!

I feel sorry for those who do it mid season and end up buggering up 2 seasons coz they miss pre season and come back underdone and their confidence crushed.

ALL THE BEST mal, you'll be back "good as new" R1 2009!:thumbsu:

Does he have any other lingering injuries? I remember when crawf snapped his arm in half a couple of years ago it turned out to be a blessing in disguise. He had a lingering back complaint, so the time off gave that a chance to heal as well and he came back fitter than ever.

NAH! don't think so but very few would know.

Pity is it is his second one.

The athleticism & pace & conditioning strain, demanded of the elite players at AFL level is becoming ludicrous!!!!! .....

and what does Dimwit DO????? Limit interchanges:mad: in the heat, on hard grounds, first up in the NOBS cup!

We need to clearly differentiate between rebuilding vs renewal.

Renewal happens when established players age, injuries start to mount and the kids come through to fill the gaps and learn the ropes- ie where the Lions and Port have been over the last few years, and where I believe Sydney will be in the next 12-24 months. In the draft era an inevitable, unavoidable reality.

Rebuilding refers to something more fundamental- ie turnover not just in players but coaching staff, administration, board, etc- akin to Carlton, in recent years, Footscray/Bulldogs or even the Pies @ the time Eddie took over. Rebuilding is indicative of deeper issues at a club level than just the wear and tear on it's player roster.

We don't need to rebuild just yet. I cannot believe i'm hearing this shyte from an essendon supporter.
You may believe you dont need a rebuild but when Sydney come from 9-13th this season theyll be bitterly disappointed that they didnt bloody more kids. With Malceski now gone it has made it that much harder for Sydney to make the 8. Why cant you handle it coming from an Essendon supporter?

Go and book yourself into Betty Ford you poor demented imbicile.96 was a lifetime ago and you have evened the score last year by winning a game by a point you didnt deserve, just ask the first 40 rows of the SCG members.Every time there is a Swans thread put up on any board you have to put in your 2 bobs worth of complete and utter garbage which manifests itself from your deepseated insecurity of the Swans actually being a better club than yours.Harmony and loyalty are the keys not backstabbing and backslapping.Im not sure of the name of your ground out their at Napier st ,is it whingers or winless hill ?By the way if it helps with your rehab memberships are available through the Melbourne office located in South Melbourne !!!!!!!Probably should book the Albino in for a few counselling sessions as well because after about round 4 coaching that rabble he will need it.Oh incase you are wondering, yes i am a psycologist.

Have looked at many of the posts discussing which way is the best way to go on building a list to win a premiership. Youth versus renewal/experience. Both ways has its merits and can be proven right or wrong depending on which premiership teams you refer to.

This is a very internal/silo type of approach when you are looking at this in isolation of other teams. I reckin that the most important thing to consider is being honest with your list on how it will compare to other teams currently and in the near future. Its all in the timing.

For instance a couple of years ago the Swans experienced list fared well against a young WC list and won a GF. WC list had one more year of experience caught up and won a GF but due to circumstances have dropped back a little bit. How will the Swans team of today compare to the developing Hawks/Pies/Port lists in the next year or so especailly with the rate of improvemnt shown in Hawks/Pies/Port? Cats are currently sitting extremely well with its list today with many players over 100 games. But how will he Cats list compare to the Hawks in a couple of years time when some of its gun players will retire but many of the Hawks players will be at 100 games plus?

Its such a moving equation but which ever way a team goes it needs to be weighed up against the progression of your opponent(s).
