I think Nick Stevens has developed to his full potential, and last night showed that in full.

Now all we need is for Marc Murphy to get some effective disposals, get Juddy back on the field and Bryce Gibbs to get a few more centre clearances (his work last night was excellent).

Not sure why I dont like him much. It's not that i dont respect his talents or contribution to the team, he's just not a player whose number I'd choose to have on my guernsey, that's all.

As good as he was, he spent very little time near an opponent.

Pretty sure he played on either Cassisi or Salopek last week (thinking the former), and they ended up with some pretty impressive stats too.

Any idea who was assigned to him?

Who cares as long as he gets the better of his opponent, the guy was awesome last night.

I thought he was very impressive last night - racked up the possession with ease, but to me his disposal was clearly below his best. As you'd expect, given what he's gone through the past year but to me he looked rusty.

Not necessarily. Watch the Geelong game from round 2 last year. Stevens got a fair few possies, but Ling still had high 20's, and set up quite a few as well.

Given our suspect defence, teams will be happy to let Stevens rack up 30 and 1 or 2 goals if his opponent not only equals that or is marginally worse, but is allowed to stroll into their 50 with ease.

He was a sensation last night. Without him, you may well have suffered the same flogging by us that you did mid season last year.

he was clearly best on ground. Apart from his final quarter, he had enormous influence late in the second and into the third when the momentum swung your way.

I am pleased to see the Blues (vaguely) competitive this year, and clearly you will do better when the great man takes the field, but your list is still pretty top heavy

I doubt Judd will do the same if Carlton ever in a similar position in the H and A, as long as he going ok he will be happy. Great Player but not a club leader.

Judd may have the C next to his name, but Stevens is your clubs leader. Like Cousins was at WCE.

I think we saw last night what the end decision for the captaincy was all about.
Everyone at Carlton is in awe of Judd and his presence on the field will be inspiring enough - he will lead without having to do a lot of captains work and I assume judging by the Stevo's superb leadership out there that he'll be the one in the huddles giving them the pep talks.

Also, remember when the whole Steven's saga begun when he wanted to leave Port? (and then we got him for nothing )
Think back to how exciting that was for us, we were pretty horrendous at the time and he was a gun in a great side.
He's had ups and downs since his arrival and his injury last year must have been demoralising for him. But he's trundled along, trained up a storm, made his view very clear that he wants to lead boys - he loves this club and wants to see success. He was so hungry and pumped last night, the boys were having a laugh when the siren went and he looked like he'd lost a loved one. Despite his time at Port, he a true blue boy and will bleed for the jumper.

Just because I'm not a sheep and have said that Stevens isn't one of my favourite players doesn't mean i know nothing about football. We're all different HBF, and we all appreciate different players.
