Re: 24. Nick Stevens

hows he been lately?

Hasn't played for a while, since we got knocked out of the NAB Cup, due to injury.

There were rumours that he was going to play on the weekend with the Bullants, but that didn't eventuate, which is a smart move.

He'll be right for round 1, that is for sure.

Re: 24. Nick Stevens

Stevo had a pretty good return game against Richmond, 21 disposals and a goal. However, his defensive game is still non-existant, and until he learns to be accountable, he'll just be another good outside midfielder

Re: 24. Nick Stevens

Stevo had a dity night against the Saints. Still doesn't have a defensive side to his game, and even though had 21 possessions, his opponent(s) had 28

Still looks like he's playing way above his normal playing weight, and needs to do some extra work to drop the kilo's

Re: 24. Nick Stevens

Stevo returned to form on Saturday night, picking up 26 possessions and kicking 2 goals. He, along with Judd dominated the midfield in the 3rd qtr, allowing us to kick 9 goals. He ran out of puff in the last qtr, when the game was on the line, which was a little disheartening, but overall, he had a very good game

Re: nick stevens

Stevo has done so amazing things this year. He is our best finisher. Hats off to him as I thought that the neck injury was the end of him. But he has worked hard and got himself playing fantastic footy! Keep it up champ!

Re: 24. Nick Stevens

Stevo has had a good year, but last week was his best game by far. Getting back to the form he was in prior to his neck injury.

If he can maintain that sort of form it will really boost our side. His run, and hitting of targets (which has been up and down this year) was sublime. I'll bet Juddy was in the stands salivating......but also thinking......"why don't these guys do this each week"

Re: 24. Nick Stevens

Finally someone commented on my buddy... Only took 8 weeks lol

Re: 24. Nick Stevens

I wanted to comment in the Nick Stevens thread on the main Carlton board, but it seems to have been side tracked a little, so I suppose I will do it here.
Of course Nick is part of our best 22 and unless something very drastic happens he will be so in round 15. He is one of the most skilled on the list and is a fantastic leader.....he would find a spot in any other list in the league, to suggest otherwise displays either ignorance or willful stupidity.........there is a lot of crap posted about him here on BF and on other footy forums about him being soft and heartless. As far as I am concerned these comments are not actually based on an examination of his form or contribution on the field but on some sort of group-think-idea that has some how taken hold..........
Nick is more than just a valuable team member, and the fact that we are now going to be able to use him in role that he is more suited to, will see him have a very fine year indeed.

Agree with most of what you said here, but couldn't let this one slip.

I think he is in our best 22, no question, however, his leadership has to be questioned.
Consecutive suspensions are not the act of a leader. He needs to play, not spectate. Secondly, while I think his weight issues aren't Lance-like, all the more reason for him to be extra dilligent about pre and post-season and to come back in the shape expected......and not have to go to the fat farm.

That's not good leadership.

Everything else you said I agree with.:thumbsu:

not sure "the farm" gripe you seem to have is indicative of his true worth as a leader or otherwise!.his back has taken a hiding,an extra cupla pounds aint gonna do him bad!the suspensions are more an indicaction of his will and leadership as much as some unknown frustation perhaps!
a great player, sublime kick of the pill and leadership qualities unquestionable.
his relationship with judd on field could be the difference between us havin a crack a flag or not.

Sorry.
I disagree.
Good leaders play. When they are getting beaten they lift a notch, bring others into the game. Instead, NS punches his opponents in the stomach if things aren't going his way.

As for the fat thing. Leadership is about setting examples for the younger guys to follow. Judd did this from day 1. Sending back the fried chips at the deli one of the biys ordered after training.....doing extra sessions.

Sorry, but turning up overweight when you have had weight issues in the past is inexcusable and a TERRIBLE example to set for the younger guys.

Far from unquestionable.

Doesn't make him a bad player, and I agree, if he can get his game together onfield then we will go a long way, but his leadership credentials have serious holes in them.

Re: 24. Nick Stevens

Pathetic.
Dropped next week.
Go to the ants.
Get fit.
And you'll just get a spot in the 22.
And all of this after 23 possessions with 91% disposal efficiency. Well done, d*ckhead. :thumbsu:

He was more than pathetic.
Poor decisions.
Poor kicking.
Slow.
Carrazzo will come in for him next weekend.

If Stevens was pathetic, what was Mitch Robinson?

Wouldn't want to say a bad word about one of our glory boys.

A loss is always the perfect time to let out your disguised hate for our guys.

Stevo will always be one of our best pin point kicks. Carrots will not and his form for the Ants is not that good. Stevo will be better for the run

The matchup was shocking. Robbo was matched up to an experienced backman who absolutly tore him apart.

Stevens' skinfolds had not reached an acceptable level and his one game for the Bullants was not deemed enough for forgiveness.
But even those at Carlton who have watched him for the best part of six years were surprised and disappointed at the shape he was in after the Blues' mid-year break.
Yet supporters still want to promote Stevens ahead of other players for the next round?

We can't afford to carry player who isn't fully committed into a cut throat match against the Maggies.

Walker just can't get on the field, yet Stevens appears to be wasting his chances as the side moves closer to the finals.

A terrible attitude from our vice captain.

Ratten has managed this beautifully and not succumbed to picking a name player who isn't fit to play AFL. Austin and Robinson have had to earn their spot again after being suspended for careless strikes.
