Suban hardly touches the pill and when he does he usually loses his feet and gets pinged holding the ball. Loves to look like he's trying but very rarely has much of an impact over the course of a game, if we could trade him for a second round pick at the end of the year I'd jump at it.

It's disappointing because I had high hopes for him at the end of 2009, but seems to be one of the few players on the list who have stagnated.

I agree. Frustrating thing is that he has an awesome left foot kick when he does get a kick

So what's the verdict?

Where would his season rate? Is he best 22 in 2015?

Hard to see how, unless he pulls out a blinder of a pre-season and demands selection. He's not best 22 now, and it's not obvious where any improvement is coming from to get him there.

Hope i'm wrong though.

I see him in front of deBoer & Clancee, currently. But i'd be ok with any one of them singularly to be traded. Suban still ended up playing 21 odd games this year, so chances are he's still around the 21-25 bracket picked. I hope sooner rather than later other young guys can put some more pressure on his spot, given the number of games he was able to rack up this year..

I know many missed set shots, but I was just so confident he would nail his one shot from directly in front only 45m out.

Was a shocker off the boot.

Really thought my buddy would come on this year as a solid 22 adding an x factor with his great left boot and publicised leadership qualities. I want to give him another shot but..... I cant see him going anyway, he's currently got the longest contract in the club outside the coach

Really? Of all the missed shots his was the one I was absolutely certain would miss. He is a terrible set shot. Not bad on the run but goes to water when he has time to think.

Doesn't seem to have any development left in him, a decent depth player in a top 8 side though, any team with their eyes on the flag should have better quality in their best 22.

Can't imagine getting much higher than a 3rd round for him, late 2nd round if we are lucky. I'd be leaning towards pulling the trigger on a trade this year while theoretically based on his age there is still time for him to develop, we just don't really have the time or need to wait it out.

You put him out on the table and see what you can get.. when it turns out not much, you keep him as OK depth. If he is getting more than 10 games a year we aren't moving forward with the development of younger players or we have a few too many injuries.

We'll probably hear he has been carrying an injury or something for the 2nd part of the year. Started off really well and then dropped off quite badly.

Erm? In what way did he start off really well?

His start to the season was poor. He had a good run in the middle of the year which just so happened to coincide with playing against clubs who missed finals. Best games were against GWS and Melbourne - just like last year.

Can't remember it that precisely to be honest. I will get to look at the games again during the off-season when I am bored. He played some good games for us this season and then dropped off really badly at the end. When that was exactly I will find out soon. Good chance that he is not up to the standard against the better teams. We have a few guys like that in our squad.
Ross did say he is very important to us, so he can't be all bad.

Hopefully ross was just trying to drive up his value. Hard to believe that we'll have all of clancee, suban and mdb on the list next year. One of them seems likely to catch a bullet.

Suban might bring in the most value out of that lot. Unless Richmond swoop in to try to grab mdb. Would rather shero disappearing for part of the game and picking up 10 disposals instead of that being suban's role... at least we can expect him to improve. It looks like Suban has reached his ceiling.

I don't think many other teams would know how to utilise or fit into their game structures players like C. Pearce and De Boer (despite their inherent worth) but Suban would be an exciting addition to a lot of sides with his probing kicks inside 50 and tackling pressure. The lower clubs like GWS, GC, Saints and Bulldogs would love his grunt and even mid-range teams like Carlton/Tigers would be interested.

Think I just convinced myself we should keep him.

Assuming he is fully fit, than yes that appears to be possible. I don't imagine all of them will be on our list next year, but it depends on whether we can bring something better in, in their place or how many draft picks we want to have.

Not a great start to his seventh season.

From all the promise of another good preseason, it seemed the same old stuff from him.
