Freo were always going to win this. He needn't have played though.

I think going in with 21 would of been too great a risk.

I'll answer this thread with one word.

Never.

Now send him back to the WAFL and stop giving him a gold pass into the team. Playing Crozier, Weller or Blakely would be better for both now and in the future.

I'm sick of him. Gives away a free for every two or three disposals I reckon. Not to mention his disposal is extremely overrated. It's time we move on...

Go back to Dockerland.

Lol. That's your argument? Pathetic.

The margin was so massive last night. A stroll in the park. Never in Doubt.

Injuries aside, I can't see him getting another gig this year

Embarrassing overreactions by posters to suggest that he won't or shouldn't get another game.
Next week, Lyon should be trying to fit in Taberner and Mzungu. It's likely that Suban may be dropped, or made sub. But to not play again? Ffs.

How is Suban this weeks scapegoat? Scapegoat for what? The team didn't lose, and he was very poor. The player he supposedly tagged, Wines, was excellent.

It's the kind defence mounted by the idiots on that other forum.

What's the margin have to do with it? Port had a poor preseason, picked a number of underdone players (picking two that didn't play at all in the lead up), while Freo had a good one, picking a side that was as fit as possible.

Freo dominated in all areas and were only let down by execution.

How's it an embarressing overreaction. Typical game from Suban and I would've said the same about him pre game. I ask you this question. Do other top six teams have midfielders as poor as Suban?

Are you his buddy or something?

Last time I looked, that forum spent all its time whinging about the Steves.

Suban appears to be this week's scapegoat because your normal scapegoat played too well. Otherwise we would have had a Danyle Pearce - where is he at? thread resurrected. The week is young, but you have already got some posters to overreact for you.

I was at the game and haven't watched the replay yet, but wasn't Ollie Wines on Fyfe? At least in the beginning.

The margin has a lot to do with it. You may have picked Freo to win in a canter, but not many others did, and that's not the way it played out. Both teams struggled with the high pressure and made disposal errors.

No, I don't have a buddy.
But if you had a memory greater than that of a goldfish, you would know why Lyon selected him.

Since when is Danyle Pearce my 'normal scapegoat'? Where did I pick Freo in a canter?

How does Pearce's excellent performance in round 1 alleviate doubts about his ability to do so in finals? We know he often produces great home and away games, but in a final performs poorly.

I seem to remember him getting axed late last year when we were at full strength. He performs maybe twice a year if that's what you're talking about.

I just can't see him getting selected in front of Croz, Gu, Blakley, Sherro, Duffy TBH. He had a great preseason and the others had injury clouds so his selection was warranted. I'm sure he'll get another gig but it will probably take injuries or suspensions to get him back in.

Don't get me wrong. I'm a big fan of his mongrel and his left boot but think the team is moving passed him.

He really just needs to not fall to his knees - then everyone wont have the obvious reason to attack him because he always gets caught. Stays on his feet, attacks the ball and gets it out - most of us here will be happy.

If his kicking boot was on last night he would have had 2 goals from 13 odd possies and this probably wouldn't be a discussion

Nick Suban, oh boy.

Been with us since 2008. Played over 100 games.

How he got to 100+ games is beyond me. He's still young (24), so maybe if we trade him at the end of the year, we'll get something decent for him. I just feel like he needs a change of scenery. He has shown he can play, but he is so inconsistent that he hurts us more than helps us.

He is at a huge disadvantage over most players - he only has one side. As evidenced when he was running down the right wing last night, he did not have the pace to get free or a right foot to centre the ball.

I don't hate Subes, just don't want him on our list.

It will take a lot of convincing no doubt but that was a big step in the right direction. Composure against his old club in tense encounters is what he has lacked and he showed a bunch of

The most dissapointing thing was he made mistakes that he had all summer to prepare for and prevent.

Everyone knows the holding the ball rule changes, yet he is still offending, and costing us goals. Ross would hate this.

He's 100/1 on to make way for Muz this week. As a head to head role wise, Clancee was giving Boak a bath for the majority of the game, in the 3rd quarter Boak was in Ports last 4 for CD score. If its Subes or Clancee - Clancee by the length of the Flemington straight.

Its clearly time we moved on from Subes in our best 22.

He needs to spend all his spare time developing his other side. He is so one sided he runs himself into trouble. Also, if he stopped trying to break every tackle he might actually dispose of the ball correctly. Is he doing this because of a lack of awareness or not spotting options to pass to.

They're his 2 main faults, unfortunately these can change the games momentum.

Like his inside grunt and aggression, but somebody else could give us that without the turnovers.

Well said, sums up the situation perfectly. We just can't hold back Gu, Crozier or even Blackley who we know will be able to do more. Does not mean he won't play again at some stage though.
