Well as tigers continue to sign players and decrease their cap its time to turn our attention to another out of contract premiership player.

Now highly doubtful to go and as tigers fans love to claim they don't lose players they want to keep but eventually they will.

Vlastuin could maybe be in line for next skipper and one of the least likely to go but until he signs lets discuss what he is worth

Patrick Naish is one that probably fits the bill. Probably doesn’t fit the current style the team seeks in a wingman, but can rack up the stats, is quick and can kick the ball well. Would suit Essendon, North and Carlton style of play.

What do you think he is worth $$ a year?

We need hard nuts/big bodies like him at Carlton. (Not saying he will leave RFC either)

He strikes me as the loyal type. Will stay at Tigerland despite probably getting larger offers elsewhere
Richmond fans shouldn't be too worried.

Is 5 years a bit much for him? Absolute ripper defender and best 22 at any club in the land.

Why would it be a bit much?

Hes 26 years old and is an absolute gun

I just checked and he's 27 this month. I think he's a gun, I'm just of the belief that once you hit 30 you probably should be on year to year deals, but that's just me haha.

Possibly 1 year too long, but I would say it meant we got him for unders with extra year security.(maybe)

I also think this adds more to the argument that he could be captain next year.

It’s a fair call. Of his draft class you you think the only players that have a chance of playing beyond Nicks new contract would be Grundy, Viney, Hunter, Daniher, Macrae, Wines, Stringer, Whitfield.

So many have fallen off the perch from this draft already.

Im sure Vlastuin would have wanted 5 years and would have accepted less than market value to get the 5 and remain a 1 club player
This guy is a gun in the backline and extremely underrated by opposition supporters with having Grimes/Rance/Balta/Houli etc in the same backline goes under the radar. 8 year player thats played 162 games shows he is durable and 5 year is no issue

Richmond dont lose players we want to keep !

Not really. He is pretty durable (body wise) and this gives the Tigers some Salary Cap versatility.

Not many players at his age I would give a 5 year deal too, but Vlastuin is one of them.

Great news for Tiger fans.

I personally believe that if Trent retires after 2023 season it will be Jack Graham but before then probably Vlastuin or even Dusty could be appointed
His leadership the last 2 years has been phenomenal.

This is what a RICHMOND MAN is.

“I had nothing to do with it, it was all up to Paul but I said to him I don’t want to force anyone out, I want what is fair for me and fair for the club. He knows all the figures but you don’t want to be the one that forces the club to kick someone out. Everyone else has done it and set that precedent. I don’t even know what I am worth, but it happened quickly and everyone was happy and no one played hard ball,” he said.

“Even if you got to another club, they might offer you another couple of hundred grand but you pay half of it in tax, you might have to move interstate, you might not like the club. It’s fun here at the moment. That makes everything easier. Winning and having fun around the club.”
