Been a member for a few years, there's are a few different factions at Nicks, i consider it a better Collingwood site than BF, you can speak your mind and rarely get warnings etc etc, lots of stirrers on there as well.

These days there is absolutely zero reason to visit or post there. Pre twitter/Facebook etc it was a good source for news/training reports/gossip. I was a very regular poster up until a year or so ago.
There are some seriously intolerable posters over there that wouldn't even be taken seriously in the bay

Never heard of it , never been part of an online forum before . I googled that st kilda school girls name when all the shit happened and I got bigfooty , was a reader for a year then decided to join .

Agree with the Bolded there are some Real Morons on there but I have a Few Mates that are on there but not here so I talk to them on it.

Very true. It seems like the majority of posters on there are either overly negative, bag out the club, knee-jerk reaction types, or completely arrogant, Carlton-esque types.

Started off there around 10 years ago, and read the LSD board as well, and the sadly departed From The Outer one.
I used to head on to Nicks for the game chat, which was pretty good, when living o/s in 2005 and 08/09.
Haven't been back much since then.

Too many drama queens over at Nicks, and heaven forbid you criticise a player so say something that contradicts the masses or the mods.

I think I can offer a view of someone that hasn't been banned from there (ie. I don't have an axe to grind), as someone that used to be a mod on there, and as someone that posts on both sites regularly.
I have posted on Nick's since 1999, so I have seen it change many times of the years. It's been a great site over the years, and many great initiatives have come about because of the members on the site. A lot of hard work, and time is gone into keeping it running. It has seen rival sites come and go, but it has stayed around. It was one of the original fan forums on the net. It was also the first site in Australia that had live footy scores. The AFL etc didn't catch up until years later.
Like any site, it has positives and negatives. Like any site, it has mods that you will like, and mods that you won't like. Like any site, it has great posters, and trolls that are only interested in getting a rise out of others (even if they support the same side). In regards to mods, this very thread offers varying opinions on moderation - some say its light handed, other says it's over moderated. What does that say to you? You can't please everyone.
I continue to post on Nick's because there are many great posters on the site that I enjoy reading. After you have been around there for a while, you get to know which threads are worth reading, and the threads that aren't.
Just to respond to some of the criticism in this thread:
1. Re: defence of Dawes. This is BS. I have seen many posts criticise him on Nick's. With that said, there are those that praise him. But....so what? Surely having two sides to a debate is better?
2. Re: Ablett. It's a Collingwood forum. Surely you understand that the mantra is to bag anything that isn't Collingwood? Isn't a bit of fun, most realise that he is a gun. Some might question the worth of his possession count, but what is the issue there? I heard the very same questions asked in the media this week.
3. Re the is EXNICKs user on here. I'm guessing you posted in the Vic Park Tavern. I tend not to post in that forum much because I know it's full of many political types. Most people don't get banned for no reason though, so I doubt it's a simple as you say it was. Most of the mods on there are good people, and they work pretty tirelessly. The forum has about 4,000 members, with a few hundred regulars, not an easy task to moderate. When I was a mod on there, I can't tell you the amount of issues that had to be dealt with that most of people on the forum never got to see. Hell, someone told me they were going to sue me when I was a mod there.
If anyone has a problem with the moderation raise it with ALL of the mods. Not just with the mod that moderated your post. Mods get told to get back in their box from other mods, believe me.
4. matty, I reckon you are one of the better posters on here and on Nick's. But, I'm unsure which long term members you think are protected? Most of the long term people on there are quality posters IMO. I can tell you now I'm not protected at all. I've had posts deleted or merged or whatever.
5. Re Joffa leaving Nick's. Joffa has come and gone from Nick's a few times. Once upon a time he also used to post on Bigfooty. However, as a public figure he is a target and people aren't always going to see eye to eye with him. But, I fail to see how Joffa not posting there correlates with the site being a good forum or not? Joffa doesn't post on here anymore, does this make Bigfooty the arse end of the Earth?
It's true that site has had its cliques, but they come and go. The cheersquad once dominated the site, they are mostly gone. Other groups have also come and gone. The good thing is it continually changes, and in 2 years time it will be different all over again.
Personally, I like posting on both sites. I like Nick's because I am around my own. I like Bigfooty because it offers a different perspective. The two aren't mutually exclusive.

Does anyone know what the deal is with the poster "Hal" on Nick's? Surely it's a bot, but why is it allowed to post? It constantly annoys me when reading and seeing a thread derailed by it's random phrases and jumbled up repeating of other posts. Why isn't it banned?
It's a bot. He is a bot that Mike put on there years ago for a bit of fun. Most just ignore the responses, just put it on ignore if you don't like it.
People have often questioned why it is on there, but the majority seem to like it on there for a bit of fun.
Personally, I've never been a fan, but some the responses it comes up with can be uncanny.
