I was sick of this talk about Nicks page so I checked it out myself.

I visited the bulliten board and there is nothing wrong with it.

Will someone explain why the Collingwood supporters are abusing their board? It is fine.

I also had a read of some of their posts. They reckon we are idiots and they hate Bluey for always closing their posts. I thought it was obvious why he closed them down.

Warren, the funniest thing is that they keep getting warned by the guys that run the pies site about their behaviour, especially spidey girl, they are threatening to ban her from the site again & she's crying foul because Bluey closed one of her topics. Lol.

Your question is fair enough, but I don't really understand what you mean by Collingwood fans abusing their board.

Nick's Collingwood Page is the best fan site on the internet. It is held in very high regard by all the people who are part of it. We are a very close community, even though, like any community, we have our own internal squabbles from time to time. (Hell. We wouldn't be Collingwood if we didn't)

The reason why there was a sudden influx of Collingwood fans on to this site about a week or so back was because it was believed, at the time, that Nick's Page was going to close, mainly because it had become too expensive and time consuming for the organisers, Nick and his father, Mike.

After much pleading from regulars such as Joffa, myself and others too numerous to mention, Mike was persuaded to try to find a way of keeping the site going.

Having come on to this site about a week ago to check out what all the fuss was about, I sort of got sucked in by some of the Collingwood baiting that goes on around here. And there's plenty of it.

So, as well as getting sucked in to the odd shit-fight, I've also made a few half-way intelligent comments here and there just to make my presence felt.

But I've got no intention of hanging around here much longer because this site is no place for a Collingwood barracker. Nick's Page is home, and the non-Collingwood world can go and FLICK itself as far as I'm concerned.

Mind you, I must admit that some of our more youthfully exhuberant friends, like Mags, have upset some of the bourgeois sensibilities on this site. All I can say to that is ...

Why do you feel this is no place for a Collingwood barracker?

Everyone here has been involved in heated discussion and many have been on the receiving end of gang-ups and abuse.

The Essendon people here are far from universally loved and respected, as you may have noticed. Hell, as much as I hate Collingwood I consider some of the newcomers (not all) a breath of fresh air.

I am staggered Collingwood supporters could be so thin skinned.

Perhaps my hatred and bitterly grudging respect has been misplaced?

Fact: Occasionally things get a little heated, as they do here, and they need to be hosed down.

They keep getting warned? Bullshit. That's a gross exaggeration to suit your own argument. As is your constant use of the same individuals as examples to suit your arguments denegrating all pies supporters.

You keep threatening to paste what I said as if it's going to be some great and embarrassing revelation. Go for it - it's all in public anyway. I hate to tell you this but you haven't stumbled across anything deep and mysterious. Go ahead and pick out an incident to suit a generalisation, it achieves nothing.

Spidergirl is a valued member of Nick's board and if you're going to quote one of my posts to demonstrate to the world what sort of person she is - try this one:

This person barracks for 3 clubs (I think) other than Collingwood, is one of only two Collingwood people ever to be threatened with being barred from the bb for violence and has an attitude of "This is what I think and if you disagree you can go and get ****ed". That particular post ("Look out board - Spidergirl's here") may have had a relatively innocuous title, but the content was far from anything that any owner of any board would like to see.

I say again: everyone is welcome, just keep it civil AT LEAST until you know who you are talking to. Show some level of basic respect for the opinions of others and you will receive respect. Respect means keeping the personal abuse to a minimum - not bursting onto the board trying to make some sort of 'impact' by going out of your way to be as obnoxious and offensive as possible to as many people as you can see.

If you can't see this, I don't know what to say except "goodbye".

thank u Mike i really appreciate it but guess what the last laugh is on these guys because we r very lucky to have a page that we love so much like Nicks Page. It is like our family and we r very privellaged to have met such characters on there and privellaged to be able to read BOTH SIDES OF AN ARGUMENT instead of only one! Plus all the fighting, up to date footy goss, plans and notification of certain club events and all the other info we share on Nicks page comes in very damm handy while we have a mad ass time on their as well. So to everyone else i say it would be good for u guys if u had a similar page for your club!

BLUEY: If you were truly respectful of ALL people's opinions here EQUALLY, then why haven't some of the slanderous and abusive comments from Sandie either been censored or reprimanded?

I find this site very interesting, as it has other supporters on it, but cannot stand the immature bickering of the Sandie / Crowz4eva (and others) mentality. Not that Collingwood or even Nick's BB people are immune to this - I've had a go at Magz and SG (not necessarily on this site) before when I think they've crossed the line.

Having joined everyone else in checking out Nick's Collingwood board and the topic on Bigfooty, the only conclusion that I could come up with is that the Pies board is just like the one here...it's full of the thoughtful and the idiotic.

Like TigerTank, I'm not that fond of Collingwood (okay, they're the club I hate above all others), but that doesn't mean that I'm not interested in reading what they have to say about their club and football in general. So I hope that Alf, Magpie Mark, Broadie etc. stay and chat with us bougeiose (as someone once annointed us). Mine's a VB thanks.....

I know this topic has probably almost had it's day, but I thought I'd let everyone (Attention: Warren.T! Of course there is nothing wrong with it!) know what topic explained the exact situation on Nicks' BB. See 'The end of an era - Nick's Collingwood Page' in the General Discussion forum.

BTW, I am not really new. I was -TotalFooty2000- (also Doug on Nick's BB), but because of the recent events on here, I decided to register a better name. Since about January I only really lurked these boards, so hopefully I can post a bit more often, and join some intelligent footy debate.

Nick's board is a place for us pies to talk about a lot of things not only pies, we came on here when we thought that nicks page was to be closing down because we all love the great game of footy and probably couldn't bare not having someone to talk to about it....
some of 'us' came on with all guns blazing but most are trying to settle down now and are getting settled in (not easy with all the bagging)

we come to talk footy, not fight....nicks page is excellent but this page has it's advantages too; it's great to hear/see the opinions from other supporters of other clubs and get their point of view....
nicks page will always be 'cyber home' (LOL)
and even tho it's not always calm on there, it's great, we are one big happy collingwood family
