Looks like Woosha maybe waking up and seeing that Nic Nat is a better center square ruckmen than cox. better leap, and just as good palm work. better pressure skills too. barring further injury the time is almost here where cox may have to move over a little for nic. Nic is having a bigger impact

NN was taking a lot of the starting bounces last year - so it's nothing new. Cox still a mile better when it comes to boundary and general stoppages where it is more of a wrestle

When he gets a free run at it - he is unstoppable.

Not sure if you remember it - but the tap over the top of Sandi at the first bounce of the first derby last year to Ebert was sublime.

Sandi went on to dominate - but it highlighted what a 20 year old could do.

Its already happening as we saw on the weekend. Its great for NN, great for the club and great for Cox even though he looks unhappy 'warming the pine'. NN will hopefully extend Cox's career by a year or two and we keep on running over the oppositions rucks in the second half because we can rotate our rucks more.:thumbsu::thumbsu:

Yeah, with this type of workload, I think Coxy could go another 4-5 years. Surprising, but definitely a good thing for player and club.

Only if he continues to improve his work in the forwardline. If he's going to spend half a game forward, he has to be able to take marks and kick goals.

I'd hate for Lycett to sit out that long. Surely he'd walk

It's not unthinkable that we might have all three of them in the team at some stage if Lycett deserves a call up. Lycett is being developed mainly as a forward during the early stages of his career and this is probably a major reason why.

Can see Lycett playing Lynches current role as a tall forward/ruck rotation in the future if Lynchy's form drops off and Cox hangs around.

With the games shift to more defensive pressure Nic Nat just kills all other ruckmen with his ability to chase and tackle. I still remember that tackle on Phil Read in the WAFL and it's something he's gonna continue in the AFL.

I doubt Cox will play beyond his next contract. No doubt at this stage he will play through to the end of 2013 and probably 2014.

Im also inclined to think Lycett is a far more natural athlete and a better forward than Cox. Even Sullivan was better at timing a lead than Cox a couple of years ago.

Let's hold off bit predictions until Lycett shows something at WAFL level.

(Yes, I know he's a first year ruckman playing for Peel! But just sayin'...)

His stats are meaningless at this stage.

Nicknat could be one of the best EVER.

His chase-downs are out of this world & often lead to scoring opportunities for us.

He's got more versatility than most.

He's great offensively but suspect defensively which is fair enough given his short time in the game and where he's spent most of his development time.

So happy we got him. :D
This , I was wrapped when we got him.Excitement machine plus and his 1%'s are getting better and better.
It just goes to show how difficult drafting yougsters is.

Just watched those highlights and I hadnt appreciated how good LeCras, Rosa, Naitanui and Darling played.

LeCras had some deft handpasses that were very silky and he featured in a big chunk of those goals that we scored - kicking them or setting them up from outside 50.

Rosa is can be missed easily as he is very unassuming but he was involved in quite a lot esp in the first half.

Darling, well i remembered he had a good game but just noticed him being involved in the midfield and also on at least one occasion when the ball sailed through for a goal he was running into the goal square on his own having lost his opponent.

Naitanui - awesome game. The stats dont give him justice. He laid a number of shephards and is very good now at using his body to advantage his teammates.

Winning the contested ball and clearances are both absolutely critical in the modern game and Naitanui is very very good at helping us win both.

I'd say 3.5 years for Cox but I'd be happy for up to 5 years. Surely though we could have Lycett named as a forward or a backup ruck in the case Cox or Naita are injured?

Remember Lycett is 18yrs old and rucks take time unless you are a super athlete like NN. He might get a game late in the season this year, he will get games in the NAB Cup next season and after a full preseason he will be ready to start pitching in when injury hits Cox or NN or Lynch.

Also remember Lycett is being developed as a ruck / forward in the WAFL, that is certainly at the request of the Eagles. Lycett will replace Lynch in our side and chances are (hopefully) that will happen before Cox retires.

By the time Lycett is 21 (3 seasons) I expect him to have 20+ games under his belt and would have replaced Lynch in our forward 50.:thumbsu:
