I spent 1992 living in Europe so my memories of him are of a very fast, skinny wingman who turned the ball over again and again. I thought he was a dud.

The record books show that Kellet finished in the top 10 in the Brownlow in 92.

I'm sure the record books have a misprint in them because I find it inconcievable that Nigel Kellet could get one Brownlow vote, let alone 14 in a year.

played for Melton a couple of years ago not sure if he is still playing.

wore No. 4 for the Dogs. Had the occasional good game, when he was left alone. Like most wingman had the ability to kick a long goal.

  That was most certainly Nigel that polled in 92. He was possibly my favourite player and I am shocked by this lack of respect  Nigel was a very good player in the early to mid 90's. He didn't end up having the career I thought he would but he still did well for himself. I still remember his 100th game, Essendon in 97, turned out to be his 2nd last game. Anyone who gets to 100 has to be doing something right. If you go back and have a look you'll also find he did well in a few finals

He was a very fast wingman, very determined and he lifted in finals. He was more than just the dude who's tongue always stuck out :)

Im only 24, but this threads making me feel old :(

really quick player in an era when there werent that many around.

unfortunately that was about it. receieve ball. run REALLY FAST and... random disposal if pressured.

I once sledged him at the whitten oval at a game one day. I think I called "runs like a racehorse - dumb as a raceorse" or words to that effect. I remember that particular sledge because his dad  , who was standing next to me at the time gave me a disaproving look and introduced himself. (didnt defend his son too hard though)

Mark played from 83-86.

Nigel started off in 89, and finished up in 97, played around 100 games as mentioned, was one player i always had a keen interest in, played junior & senior cricket against him.

Great to watch him run down the wing on Whitten, a bounce, and slot it through from 50.

But yeah, his disposal wasn't always great, but a good player all the same, last i heard he was working as a coach with Werribee, pretty sure he still is.

With respect Scooter the misprint just might be internal. No great favourite of mine but I'll give him his due. Took a while to show his goods but then was a regular and valued member of the side.

He was a courageous, very quick wingman who took lots of hits and went where angels fear to tread, was integral to Wheels plans post the abhorted merger. Talk to any of the players of that era and they rate him highly.

Mark Kellett, nickname Captain, came to us from the Saints and played very well especially in the early Malthouse years. Not tall enough for a KP but could fill in and was good at help defence when a key defender got stranded. Left us suddenly and a season or so later a hursuit version bobbed up for the Swans. Played there as a running HB for a couple of seasons.

Handy type who really didn't live up to the early expectations. Last game for us was that shocking loss to port in 97,where he missed a goal from 10 metres. Mark Kellett was handy for us in the early 80's. Remember vividly his run of half back. Known for being a little metrosexual before his time.[had a pair of leather pants]Hmmm like someone else.

Come on guys you are all being to lenient on him.

Only got a game because of pace - much like David Bolton and Andrew Wills. Continually turned the ball over to the opposition, never went and got it and it still haunts me that a player like him can finish in the top 10 in a brownlow - if I remember rightly he was pretty high up - maybe 4 or 5.

Wheels being well before his time saw the value of his pace - I was no value - he was extremely frustrating.

I think that he is in real estate now.

Oh yeah guys Ben Harrison has also decided to venture into real estate. Joined Hocking Stuart recently.

Agree with you and scooter 100%.

Never, and I mean never, did he ever take the first option when he gathered possession. He would always try to do too much. Forwards would have to lead 2-3 times when Kellett had the ball. The phrase "running around like a headless chook" was made for Nigel Kellett. He was infruriating to watch at times. With Kellett and Quill in our team in the mid 90's we always seemed to gift the opposition cheap possession or an easy goal through elementary mistakes.

Having said that, I hope Nige has some good offspring, seeing as he snuck into the 100 game club :D

Nigel Kellet was my Phys Ed Primary School teacher for years 5 & 6 at Williamstown North Primary back in 95 - 96

I think he stayed on there for a little bit, but I have no idea how far he went through with that.

He was an allrite guy after a while, even signed a picture of himself for me that i had brought in.

Used to almost always be wearing sunglasses around the school oval is one thing i remember
