Teams have figured out that if they niggle Gawn behind the ball he plays less effectively, definitely happened in the mfc v port game as well. I’m sure he’s not the only player who cops this sort of treatment behind play.

Only one of the incidents in the video above was a free kick (Mchenry was pinged for blocking him from getting to a ruck contest ~30m from where the ball up was going to be). Taylor Walker also copped a $1,000 fine for striking Gawn (elbowed in the back of the head in a marking contest - low impact, high contact, careless conduct).

Ignoring the fact that Gawn was ‘playing injured’ is this smart coaching/ all good? Or should they be trying to stamp this sort of stuff out? If it is smart coaching, why aren’t more teams doing it?
