At the time I thought With Teeth was a pretty good return for Nine Inch Nails but after hearing Year Zero, it's clearly inferior.

Year Zero is awesome in so many ways.

Going to be one of my albums of the year, a great return to form. :thumbsu:

Hope people are seeing them this week if you're in the big cities.

I haven't given it a proper sitting as yet, I remember the single took awhile to sink in.But I love it now.
I just need to give the rest of the album that time to sink as well.

The things I've always loved about NIN are the subtle underlying elements in each song that over time begin to stand out. It's an incredible use of layers and depth of sound. One of the most artistic bands of existance.

Cheers dude. I'll have to try to get along to that show.
I remember way back in '95 they toured on the "Alternative Nation" festival. That was the last time I saw them...so long ago.

I love YZ. It's been playing for two weeks straight in my car, and I can't get enough of it. It looks like NIN are slowly adding the new material to the set. They played "Hyperpower!", "The Beginning Of The End", "Survivalism", "Me, I'm Not" and "The Good Solider" in Sydney after only playing three a few nights before. Anyway, I'm really looking foward to Sunday night.

Has anyone been following the concept behind the cd? It's quite amazing.

Yeah vaguely but I'll get more into it after I listen to the album more.

Something about a future war started by "Capital G" where Trent gave him the vote and he dropped the bombs. And it evaluates from there.

There is a massive undercurrent I still havent grabbed yet.

It's quite a creey (and somewhat possible) concept. The fact that Trent thought this up while sober is slightly more powerful (in my mind).
Anyway, if you're interested, check out this link. It explains everything pretty well.

They've really gone all out with this new concept. It started off a bit like AFI's "five flowers" mystery from last year, but it's taken a life of it's own.

Also, call the number on the back of the Year Zero cd case. It's awesome.

Oh, I almost forgot. Makre sure you look closely at the cd when you insert it in the cd player, and once again when you take it out.

Live (i thought) it was disappointing. They sound better on record, at home.

Maybe it was the cold, maybe the open air venue or maybe the p.a. which i'd seen better setups in my parents living room than that one.

The lyrics, the message, is the best part about their music and when they play live all of that disappears under a veil of fake energy.

Saying that, i think the new album is ****ing great, and my judgement is skewed because i was near the back (at a crap venue).

Thanks to some ****er last night, Trent stopped in the middle of 'Hurt', and I heard that is was cut out of tonight's set as well.
He threw a mini hissy fit, walked off stage, came back to play 'The Hand That Feeds', and that was it.
No 'Closer'.
No 'Terrible Lie'.
No 'Head Like A Hole'. Meh.

It was a great show anyway. Opening with 'Somewhat Damaged was awesome.

correct Hurt wasnt played tonight. But they played Something I Can Never Have, a great substitute imo

I really feel for anyone who only went to the show on Sunday night with the technical screw ups and how it ended. I went last night and tonight, and NIN ****ing killed it tonight. Awesome show. Best set list ever. So many songs i wanted to hear. Even Trent said "finally a good show... i nearly quit on you guys". He loved tonights show as much as everyone there. was a great night.

During Hurt **** heads kept screaming out "i love you Trent" and etc during the quiet parts, ruining the atmosphere.

People are just idiots.

Not surprised to hear Trent was annoyed. Half the crowd were emo types who had no idea, other half, the older crowd from what i saw, where the good fans.

That sucks for that concert but that second Melbourne show set-list is epic. Looks almost perfect.

Lmao at this from the BDO forum. Says it all really.

I’m sorry but I haft to voice how ****en angry I’am right now. For 5 years I have waited to see this band, and finally got the chance. The concert was going off and during one song “HURT” One stupid gothic decided to yell out to Trent while he was playing piano “make some noise”, “ I love you trent” and “What are you doing after the show” leading to trent losing concentration and ****ing up. Trent then cracked the shits at everyone because all the stupid Goths and posers were laughing as well. Which then lead trent to cut the song in a half play one more song and walk off stage, angry then ever.

Thank you Goths of Melbourne you really are the ****en losers of this world and should have short life’s and kill urself because NO ONE LIKES YOU FOR WHO YOU ARE.
