McEnroe is a sick man. Haha I've seen him play in lots of charity and exhibition matches (good on him) but he can't help himself if something doesn't go his way... even when the game means nothing. He's never changed.
 
In the years I've seen McEnroe at the WTC, he would do this pretty much every time. It got to the point that I couldn't tell if it was genuine anger or deliberately exaggerated because he knew what the crowd wanted to see, always entertaining regardless.

Against Goran he refused to be mic'ed up or have a post match or pre match interview. He would ne an absolute nightmare to play against.

Because the point of the serve is to start the point, not decide the point. That is the original point of the second serve - at a time when the equipment was dodgy, it guaranteed that the point would get started.

Removing the let deprives the returner of a fair play on a clean ball. It hands further advantage to the server in a game that is already skewed too far in that direction.

IIRC when it was tried on the Challenger tour the players all hated it.

In terms of sponsorship - looks like it's not attracting...well any sponsors. 90% of the sponsor hoardings are NSW Government agencies, along with Blackmores and Budget Direct.

Looks like TA have given up on the format being a legitimate format, and this year's is completely gimmicky.

Also there's no difference counting points as 1-2-3-game/15-30-40-game. That would have to be one of the most pointless gimmicks.

Hopefully next year it's relegated to the WTC or just abolished altogether.
 
This is horrible not even that entertaining. Tennis dumbed down. And the channel 7 commentators like hamish trying to make it sound serious :oops:. Maybe if the players were miked up on court so we can hear them like they do in charity events it would be reasonable.
 
Yeah the format definitely needs some tinkering if it is to succeed

Hamish is a massive farking idiot. Only where he is due to nepotism. Stuff him.

Pretty damn crigeworthy stuff. The steam jets, Pat Cash...but the try hard DJ in the corner doing this weird hand thing was the real icing on the cake.

Do kinda like the idea of players calling their own lines though.

Pretty sad listening to Fitzy pathetically dissecting and microanalysing every point as if it's a grand slam final

The interviews at the end were terrible. The players just wanted to get off court. Hewitt clearly didn't want to do a lap at the end.

Nick really does admire Hewitt, they clearly get along well.

I think it would of rated well but mainly due to the four playing not the format. I watched it all but if the four players were Tammi Patterson, Gooch, Duckworth and Rodionova I would have switched it off after the first point.

It's non-ratings period so 7 probably have minimal interest in the ratings anyway
