Switch Nintendo Switch 2

Wasn't going to upgrade but due to NFL, WWE and NBA being available on the Switch 2 I upgraded. Purchased the Mario Kart bundle and Street Fighter 6. Only had a quick go yesterday tried the Knockout tour which I enjoyed and a couple of fights on Street Fighter. Graphically both looked really good and both played well. I know the sports games aren't going to be as good graphically or run as smooth as Xbox Series X but for me it was about time and I rarely get time at home to game properly on the XBOX with 2 young kids. To be able to play that games I enjoy the most like NBA was the big selling point for me so it will be interesting to see how it plays when its out. Being able to get some time in on lunch breaks or travelling for work is a big win for me.

Sounds like a good plan. Nowhere near as smooth as my series X but I never expected it to be. Notice a big upgrade from the Switch 1?

I ended up grabbing an Anker powerbank and that’s been great for portability.

To be honest I only played Mario Kart and a couple of the old SNES and NES games on the switch 1 so I can't really comment on the difference. I had the OLED switch and Mario looked pretty neat but this looks very similar if not the same?

I love the series X but really limited with game time, if I am lucky I might get 3 hours a month to be able to play at various times, just gets to hectic with work, kids, own sport especially now with footy and cricket trainings overlapping and then keeping up with home maintenance etc. Switch will be perfect to be able to use on the go or have the footy/cricket whatever on in the background.

I was impressed with Street Fighter it felt great, looking forward to diving deeper into that. Have you played any of the sports games on the switch yet?

I hope it's as good as Cyberpunk 2077 or Star Wars Outlaws, port wise. Those two have been unbelievable.
It will be fine.

I haven’t been this confident in a consoles hardware in a long time. Anyone that followed the hardware leaks before launch would know that the system is powerful enough.

The only game that could probably be ruled out is GTA 6. Even then, it’s running on the same things as every other game, Series S and PS5.

I'm not so convinced about the hardware, we will be reliving the original Switch being a mile behind the rest in short order.

Will be interesting how much pressure new handhelds will put on Nintendo. Unfortunately the amount of bed wetting over the price of Switch 2 makes it unlikely they'll put out a decent spec. Can only hope they might do a 'Pro' model with the inevitable OLED release.

Mine has been collecting dust for a while now. The last thing I played was a bit of Fortnite and it seems to run pretty poorly which is really disappointing.

After one Devine beast I’ve hit a wall with BOTW and Mario Kart only has a limited lifespan as a single player.

I’m liking what I see from the Xbox Ally (I know it’s a PC). Maybe the best handheld option for me is one that can play 3rd party games well instead of Nintendo exclusives.

Other then DK Bananza or Mario Kart World. There hasn't really been a reason to buy the switch2 yet.

Dk is my 2nd favourite game this year so far. Loved it
Yeah I'm holding off until Legends Z-A

Been enjoying NBA 2k26. Had to work away for 3 days and away again for the whole of next week so being portable has been fantastic for that reason. Early on I was thinking shit this sucks compared to XBOX just graphically and the smoothness I had been used to but after a few goes I got used to it and its actually quite fun and enjoyable being hand held.

I haven't played the Football FC/ Fifa series for some years now but will be getting that on Switch end of the month.

Keen to get into DK also.

Outlaws runs at 1440p docked, 1080p handheld.

At 30 fps, and not native (far from it), with low resolution textures. Really hard to recommend multiplatform games for the Switch, it simply isn't as good an experience if you have other options. I'd genuinely prefer to run it via the Portal if handheld is the appeal, bitrates be damned.

I remember reading an article where someone suggested using it in this orientation for DS games, though it would be a bit silly wouldn’t it.

It would depending on the game, like there's a puzzle in the Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass you can only complete by closing the DS.. no idea how they would make it happen on another system.
