So if I'm right, they open at 9pm on June 4th, but would only be dishing out the units from midnight onwards.

At the risk of sounding like an old campaigner, I think I'd rather get some good proper beauty sleep and just grab the order in the morning.

That’s exactly what I’ll be doing. I’ll be down at JB Hi-Fi just after 9am.

I did the midnight launch for the Wii in 2006 though.

I haven't done a midnight launch before and I'm not working the next day.. but I do wake up at 4am for work on that Wednesday, might as well just come in the next day like you two. It's likely just gonna be a packed queue anyway so I'll have to wait for 30+ minutes just to get what I want.

I keep seeing things pop up comparing the Switch 2 to the Steam Deck.

I get that they share similarities as handheld gaming devices but why after 40 years don't people understand that people buy Nintendo products because they are Nintendo products? Switch 2 will live or die based on how much people enjoy it and the Nintendo games on offer. IMO only a small percentage of potential buyers will be weighing up the specs vs other handheld devices. I'm sure plenty will look at it and not see enough of an improvement/points of difference on the Switch they have and not buy it on that basis. Take Mario Kart World, Donkey Kong Bananaza etc. out of the equation and it would die on its arse, but that's Nintendo. They will keep doing what they're doing until it isn't successful.

I was going to go to my nearby midnight launch but I've preordered everything else other than the console from the JB next door. So I'd be going back to the shops the next day anyway.

Ended up going with the Tomtoc sling bag. Seems pretty well made and roomy enough to fit a pro controller, power cord, power bank in it as well.

Also have a Spigen screen protector, Pro controller, SD card and the case/screen protector bundle which I’ll return straight away.

Not 100% if I’ll get mine on the 5th as I ordered it 11/4 (a few days late) from JB. If I get it it’ll just be in time for a work trip so I can test out how good it is portable.

Yeah I'm really hoping my KingKong 2 Pro controller works on the Switch 2. Sounds like it should given the compatibility of the S1 pro controller. Just won't be able to wake the console from the controller most likely.

I took the lazy option and got the preorder delivered from eb. Hopefully I won’t regret that too much if delayed.

I didn’t get the pro controller 2, pro 1’s should be fine for a while particularly at its price vs what actually is added.

I caved and preordered Cyberpunk instead of just waiting to grab it off the shelf on Thursday. I always grab 2-3 games on launch. Can’t wait.

Hopefully there's more first party stuff in the near future, it's a little lean for those of us who don't intend on using it for multiplats.

Also kind of baffling to me that some of the first party upgrades aren't a launch thing - would have thought Mario Party would be essential to launch with the camera.

What I've seen (thus far) of the new Mario Kart hasn't swayed me into pre-ordering. I might get the system in the future, but probably won't jump in at launch.

Noticed that Rocket League is a game with "start up" issues, hope it's fixed for the Switch 2 in due course.... it would be one game I'd play on it

And I see that Hitman is another title.... the prospect of buying the Switch and Hitman (for the 5th time) to play it hand held is very tempting.
