I think you are correct. There may have been some engineering collaboration in the past, and Chrysler did buy AMC from Renault in 1989, but they appear to be distinct Groups. As I understand, Fiat merged with Chrysler around 2014 to form Fiat-Chrysler Automobiles NV and there are two companies/groups - FCA US and FCA Italy. Ferrari separated in 2016.
Renault, on the other hand, nearly went arse up. They are OK now and can take responsibility for saving Nissan's butt from the scrap heap (Goshn did this).

My wife chose it and stated she’d finally learn to drive if we got it. Made sense to downsize in Richmond because the old Mazda 3 was a guzzler and I was only really doing the odd weekend dash around in it. The learning to drive never happened - but they’re a pretty fun car to drive. Would be more fun if I had gotten a manual (auto was another part of the ‘I’ll learn to drive’ trade off).

So she’s meant to drive it - yes. Like many things, that just worked in theory only.

All that said, I have a red one (which does go faster - can attest to it being able to travel at 130 kmh like it would in Italy) and it’s pretty fun to drive thanks to the face that it has the ability to choose gears itself as opposed to being stuck with the shirt sluggish ratios the automatic wants to use. Wouldn’t be my first choice of car, but for something tiny enough to park around the inner city that isn’t being driven much - it gets the job done.

I flew past one of those car carrying trucks on the highway a few years ago that prompted bursts of laughter from the driver as my micro machine flew past his giant rig.

A mate of mine is about 205cm tall and 160kg (a lot of that muscle) and I got him into the back seat of it - so they have some deceptive capacity.

Got to drive a vintage fiat 500 through the streets of Rome out to Castel Gandolfo overlooking Lake Albano a couple of years back as part of a large group(work junket). Locals stood and waved as we drove these cherished little refurbished crumbleboxes through their villages with police escort.

In Australia we could do a similar thing with Nissan-Datsuns, through the streets of Melbourne, out to the beautiful power station lakes surrounding Morwell.

Completely untrue.
Owned 2 Audi's in the last 10 years.
Currently own a Merc E350 and BMW 430i.
Audi every bit as good driving wise as the Merc and only a shade under the Beemer which is the best car I've ever driven, and Audi gorgeously tight and well built. Look is simpler and less 'upmarket' than my now vehicles, but Audi not squeeky or plasticky at all.
