News Nissan joins the Hawks as its official automotive partner

I get your point, but it won’t be Tesla, they’ll be lucky to be around in 10 years.
I hear this one a lot.
Tesla are already on the ground in China building a massive car plant.
China is by a large margin the biggest car market in the world.
Their cars are proven.
Tesla is pumping out 7000 electric vehicles a week and they are all sold.
The Tesla Powerwall II is selling beyond production capability also at present
Tesla is now running at a profit.
Tesla has new models already in the pipeline.

I am yet to see evidence as to why Tesla wont exist in 10 years.

The new Nissan Leaf should be hitting the market here in 2019.

Completely untrue.
Owned 2 Audi's in the last 10 years.
Currently own a Merc E350 and BMW 430i.
Audi every bit as good driving wise as the Merc and only a shade under the Beemer which is the best car I've ever driven, and Audi gorgeously tight and well built. Look is simpler and less 'upmarket' than my now vehicles, but Audi not squeeky or plasticky at all.

Agree. Owned an Audi A4. Bloody loved that thing.

Completely anecdotal on my part, but am in the states at the moment, seeing plentbof BMW electrics. Ford are in the process of getting into it as are all the euro producers. They already have huge plants..... everywhere. Tesla is struggling to meet orders, BMW/ Peugeot/ Toyota won’t.

I've lived in the US the last 17 years, and currently in the 'new age' future world of Kansas City.:p
They don't even have charging stations outside of a few petrol outlets, the airport, and a couple supermarkets, and there are TONNES of Tesla cars riding the pavement everywhere.
It's astonishing, and Tesla vehicles are exactly who many people, especially with some green inside them, either plan or desperately want to be driving.
What BMW/Peugot/ and Toyota don't have is the brilliance and imagination of Elon Musk, so they are always chasing what the inventor and pace setter is doing. He's 5 years ahead of wherever they want to go. What they are trying to match with his designs, he is already rewriting in his head and re-imagining for the future.

If Musk can stay out of his own erratic public persona, and that's a fair question, the Tesla brand has an enormous future.

With a lack of Sedans in their Aus range I wonder if the foray into AFL sponsorship will also see them re-introduce the new Maxima into the market.

It is interesting to look back at only a few years ago when electric vehicles were such a doomed premise, and now almost every major car manufacturer is going to transition to EV’s within the next decade.
