Losing Hay will set our (the Hawks) defence back by at least 2 years. He is rock solid on the opposition's most damaging forward. His disposal has left a bit to be desired, but he prevents goals and that's what he's there for.

We better get a bloody good trade (e.g. 2 first round picks or pick 10 + player) if we are to lose him. Otherwise, he's staying where he belongs in our backline and Freo can go on missing the finals until their 'window of opportunity' has well and truly slammed shut.

The fact that your backline is set back 2 years has nothing to do with Hay's worth. He is a middle of the range fulback. Hardly a star worth 2 1st round picks.

Haddrill probably does a similar job at FB but is suited to a back pocket or 3rd tall. Thats the reason Freo is chasing Hay to release Haddrill. He's not a required player down at Freo and if we give anything close to what your suggesting we would lose big time.

On the topic of Dunn being slow, he was top 10 in the 20m sprint in his draft year.

Getting Hay will have little bearing on whether we make the finals. Is has everything to do with having our best midfielders up and firing for a full season. This year wasn't helped by the fact that Hasleby played the whole year with a hernia and Bell had surgery and no preseason. Yet both still managed to look a class above the rest of our midfield.

Thats the area that needs fixing, Hay is just a bandaid fix incase Haddrill doesn't recover from surgery properly.

I've seen Dunn play at AFL level and I've never seen a player look as lost as he does. He also doesn't seem to rate much of a mention when he has been on the park for East Freo. He might be a bit like Croad and could just never get settled over here. I think he's had two broken collar bones and sundry other injuries. He's definitely more injury prone than Hay thus far.

I can't fathom Dominguez suggestion that Connolly has done this on the sly. If he has its as weird as all get out because CC would have signed off on the three year contract they gave him. Dunn will do nicely getting a three year deal at another club given his history so far.

Personally, I think Freo are having a bit of a dip at Hay but probably won't sell the farm to get him. I think Polak might be more likely as a trade option.
We had to sign him up, otherwise we could have lost him for nothing in the PSD. If Connolly went to him and said you might be traded we would have had to trade him regardless of what was on offer (Connolly doesn't need anymore players who don't want to play for him). This way CC finds out what rival clubs are willing to offer and thought that no one would find out. If Connolly hasn't been doing it on the sly then why is his manager so upset?

This could actually work out great. Aslong as he isn't on big money we should get a good trade for him. I would actually prefer to trade Dunn for a pick in the teens and draft another midfielder than trade Dunn as part of a Hay deal. I consider trading Polak for Hay selling the farm because in 2 years time under a quality coach he will be exactly what we need.

Trading Dunn will come back to bite Freo in the ass and it will be hilarious

It is important to note CC has been up front in the media and at the Club that all players are tradeable. If you want to offer up Judd for Bell, then so long Belly and thanks for the effort.
If Dunny is wanted by other clubs CC will look at it if the trade suits.
