No Oppo Supporters NMFC 2019 Membership Thread

I remember at Dallas Brooks Hall when JB got up on the stage and explained that we were losing money because our 'core business' wasn't making money.

That is, we are meant to be a football club, but playing football matches at Etihad was costing us money.

He had a plan to change all of that. Eugene Arocca came on board and it was only a matter of time until we fixed the 'stadium deal'.

Well look at us now.

But yes no one can not dispute we have come along way despite "needing" to sell games in Tassie.

I don't experience the issues that our Victorian members do, as I buy the top tier interstate membership. That gets me **** all too because I never get a free game when North play up here twice a year.
And I never use it down in Melbourne because I usually go with a group so we get tickets there.
That's just a ramble , I just get a feel good that I'm contributing to the club despite the distance. And a guaranteed GF ticket. Starting to think I'll be an old bastard when that happens.
Anyway my point being the sentiment of the heartland members is that they are continually shafted and the member focus is poor.

Membership has stagnant for a few years now.

Infact one could argue a point that it is in decline if you take away the Tassie members and the numerous generous supporters that buy multiples.
If someone could be bothered analysing those stats.
When you here generational members not renewing their memberships, it is concerning that the club is letting down the foundations of the club and that is it's supporters.

May as well send the NMFC call centre and customer care offshore, the results would be the same ATM.

yeah, I think if you took away the Tas growth it wouldn't look good.

3 ways to increase members in Melbourne:
1) Breed like rabbits.
2) Getting kids to jump on a bandwagon and waiting till the grow up. Unfortunately we didn't capitalize on the 90's success. Maybe if we had one in that year that doesn't exist, 10 years of Brad has done nothing to attract the kids.
3) new adults to the game, but generally its unlike new comers are going to join up straight away.

What is as important as getting new members is hanging onto the ones you've got. We have to attract something like 3k-5k new members every year just to make up the ones that drop off.

It's only a matter of time until Tas have their own team and when that happens we will be in world of pain. UNLESS we can become a boutique club with a boutique stadium.

I have issues with the way things are done but continue to buy a membership. The bigger concern is that not everyone is a rusted on member and end of the day if we have 100,000 members paying premium membership amounts every year but nobody turns up to games it would not be sustainable.

For mine we should be using whatever extra Tasmanian money we are obtaining outside of the requirements to support the club to ensure that more people are turning up week in week out – bribe them with prizes linked to attendance if we have to. If we’re making $500k profit but getting 25k average attendance in Melbourne then we are doing it wrong IMO, I’d prefer we burn through 80% of that getting our average attendances up to 30-35k, even more importantly drag people into our marquee games (Good Friday, Friday night homes etc) by hook or by crook even if in the short term these don't pay us much. We've been trying to get this fixture for 2 and a half decades - we should be taking people there by gunpoint who don't even know what a football is if we have to, anything to get crowds at these games into the mid 40's at a minimum. People feed off larger crowds and generally enjoy the atmosphere more, the media feeds of smaller crowds and we make ourselves more and more vulnerable. Perception is everything unless you have a spare $50M chest of gold behind the couch – hint, we don’t.

I have a seat in the North bay but generally prefer to stand behind or near the players race at the back of level 1.

I encourage any and all like-minded individuals to join me in this area as it's a place where some random, passionate and genuinely funny North people stnad and let loose.

To be clear - being a card carrying introvert - I'm not advocating for a "meetup" in any way. But if the 15-20 grow to 20-30 then all of a sudden you have a nice little bunch of freaks creating a bit of grass roots, old school "home ground support".

I will keep that in mind if I find myself flying solo at some stage.
