My fear is that the AFL's agenda is for North Melbourne to become the hybrid Tasmanian team, and that the women's team, if it's confirmed, and the academy are strong pointers in that direction.

Agree

If the AFL tries to coerce North Melbourne to become a Tasmanian team when the current Tasmanian contract ends, will the club be in a sufficiently strong financial position to refuse, and to thrive?

We just need to remain vigilant until we shore up our financial independence.

The real threat will be poor onfield results..

If the AFLW team is the Tasmanian Kangaroos, as the completion grows i would hope with our affiliation with Melbourne Uni women's team in the VFLW, we could have a North Melbourne Kangaroos VFLW affiliate as a feeder club.

I'd settle for this.

No it doesn't.

It does, it anchors us to Tassie. Which is ok now, but if Tassie embrace it and prove that they deserve an AFL team do you think the AFL will create a start up side?

The club is safe in Melbourne. The club is never going to agree to be moved regardless of a women's team having a presence in Tasmania.

People are understandably jumpy after the Gold Coast Debacle but it's about time they accepted we are safe as a Melbourne club and doing well. AFL is not trying to ship us off, it would never get past stage one.

Tasmania should have got the gold coast license. It was fully sponsored and ready to go and the AFL ****ed up and decided to attack a rugby area.

Can't agree mate

There is a reason that Gill keeps saying he wants one team in tassie.

I know that we are financially stable however, If you think this announcement will not add further fuel to their agenda then you are far too optimistic. Furthermore the AFL, I'm sure will be able to develop a mechanism to move the club if it was their wish.
