From the PR about our new new recruits it sounds as if we have a great list and, if that is indeed the case, I thought we would be reasonably happy with the whole process. If, however, our signings are not as good as their PR, perhaps we have a problem. If there are any members of our Tasmanian academy who are good enough to be drafted, how will that work; do we get priority? do we get a discount?

I haven't followed this closely so might be mistaken, but I thought the AFL didn't release the draft order earlier because the order would be dependent on what happened during the trade period. In other words, I don't think they have changed the draft order (or moved the goal posts) but released a draft order which acknowledges out success during the trading period. Do you think we have a strong list at the end of trade period or is that just a lot of hype on our website?

I haven’t followed it that closely but I think we’ve already announced a couple of Tassie girls signing on.

There wasn't meant to be any compensation.

Our list looks great on paper, who knows if it will be a good team though.

The draft is kind of meaningless tbh, it is going to be buyer beware if you draft a MU player who only signs a one year deal and can walk to us the following year.

Not just hype. We got arguably 6 of the best 25 players from this year's aflw and strength on all lines.

I don't think our list is that strong, 10 of our 17 are a bunch of no-namers tbh who may or may not be very good. Melbourne still has 7 all australian squad members on their list? For all of Brisbane's bitching, they didn't lose any of their 6 AA squad members. We just have 4 that made the AA squad and we have no second tier at all and going into the draft with worse picks than the flag contenders. It is BS.

That being said, Geelong's pickings were pretty thin by comparison.

Looking back at earlier drafts, it's never been a straight order like the men's national draft. Much more player movement before the draft and then no apparent sense to the order of picks in it. So they aren't just making it up as they go along for us - it's BAU.

Much rather have my club run barefoot through current player lists than wait to be handed extra draft picks anyway.

Don’t see the issue. The AFL Gold Coast paid Ablett a million bucks and cherry-picked every prized junior in the land and were duly slammed at draft time.

The Draft is only to put the finishing touches to our list anyway, the bulk of the teams quality players are already signed up, bet we still jag some hidden gems anyway with plenty of inside intel available, bring it on.

There is no system. It is what it is. And we have a cracking team to support.
