Normally i shut up and buy all the North merchandise, but that tassie junper is awful. Slang on a jumper...

Big fan of the shorts. Remind me of gym shorts from the 70s. My neighbourhood won't know what hit them when i unless my legs in those.

Disappointed it isn't canterbury. They are unrivalled for sports clothing IMO. Only one that comes close is under armour and they are touch and go at times. Cotton on: active range. It will feel like I'm buying lorna jane clothing.

COAR is the official AFLW uniform supplier.

If we moved from Canterbury I'd like to go back to Nike or give under armour a shot.

What will?
That's the name is not confirmed to not include north Melbourne.

The way I read it is that we have a 5 year deal with Tasmania and their name is used as part of branding. At the end of that 5 yrs who knows? We could continue the arrangement if we find its working well, or if as some here believe that it is instead destabilising us we pull out of the sponsorship and go full NMFC lose the tas govt funding and tas zoning for aflw and move to a structure similar to the other aflw teams.

I really hope Canterbury re-sign. I agree, those two would be a close second. Puma and new balance are good (but richmond and melb). BIG NO TO BLADES!!!

I don't see a Traditional NMFC Guernsey in that Photo. I might buy the Guernsey on the left to Simply Burn It. It is a Dead Set Disgrace. I'll give the jerkoffs at the Club a Map of Tassie. Half Tonne Mom is Primed to sit on a few Heads. You've been warned. :stern look

Not at all concerned re: the potential for club being referred to as Tasmania, or how the club will be reffered to in commentary?

No. Because it doesn't affect our men's team in any way.

The tassie bit reminds me of stadium sponsorship tbh. It's not permanent but while you have it its a lot of cash.

Maybe not directly

Do you think that this enhances or detracts from the narrative from the media that north should be shipped to tassie?

But it hasn't stopped the Dogs, Melbourne & St Kilda from getting their own AFLW teams without any caveats.

Which one of those teams took half its playing list from another location?

I don't think it's an issue at all.

In fact I think the way the media has been writing about our stability lately that they will see it as a huge positive that not only have we been able to ensure out safety in Melbourne financially etc but we can also afford to run a second training base in Tasmania.

Sure, it could go the other way. But personally I don't think it will.

Sure the uneducated opposition fan will have a crack. But if you've ever read the main board you'll know that since 07 that hasn't changed and the should have gone to the Gold Coast insults are still thrown. These people are irrelevant.

They couldn’t get rid of us when membership was 22k, debt was millions more than what it is now, the admin was terrible etc, how are they going to relocate us now when our position as a club is the strongest it’s ever been.

My concern is that the facts are not important to the media these days, yet their reach and influence on the general AFL fan is high. This could result in decreased crowds, membership, sponsorship which can have further flow on effects such as scheduling, player recruitment etc.

This arrangement has the potential to inflame the media chatter and I hope we have a strategy to mitigate that.

Do you really want to go through all of it again though?

Here you go a picture of a Tasmanian Forester Kangaroo.

If you are worried about relocation, imagine that the Tassie Kangaroo bit is referring to the cute critter above. So technically our team is North Melbourne and our mascot is a Tassie Kangaroo.

Ultimate holding of the license is irrelevant once the team is being reffered to as the tassie kangaroos and using tasmania on the ladder, having big map of tassie and the word tassie on the guernsey (albeit for half the games). No one is going to say NMFC licence holder the North Melbourne Tassie Kangaroos.

It is truly a 50/50 venture which in itself is fine but I hope the club has a long term plan to prevent another GC situation because this arrangement is at least a turn down that road.

I think i covered the paranoia points in an earlier post. Look, if JB was still at the helm and still had the "I can't promise that I wont shift all of our home games to Tasmania" attitude then I would be ahead of the queue with my tinfoil hat on.

Do you think Buckley is a liar? Do you think Carl is a liar? If you do, then do everything humanly possible to put together another ticket and replace them both.

I have no reason to believe that they are liars and they have made public statements about the limitation of our involvement in Tasmania and I am at peace with it now. The environment today is radically different.

Show me one argument that isn’t the sky is falling reactionary crap that says we are on our way to relocation?

We had people not renew membership because of the boomer decision, so yes it seems we have a few sensitive folk.
Tassie has also been one of our biggest growth areas in recent years for membership, off the top of my head I think we went from about 1k to 6 or 7k over 4 yrs.
The partnership with women's football in Tasmania also could impact positively on membership just as much as it could hurt.

These are things we don't know, there's a lot of angst about things we don't know as yet which is why I said I'd wait for a full release by the club before ripping my dick off.

There's no way the club goes into something like this without the best interests of the club at heart. They're not going to agree to anything that screws over the long term stability of the club just to jump the line in a secondary comp (no disrespect to aflw but the men's comp at this stage is the bigger draw) .

I don't think Buckley and Carl are liars but I don;t think I am paranoid either, worst case scenario tas/afl put huge pressure on the club to consider relocation do you think it will be as cut and dried as us saying no, it was horrible in 07 and would be just as bad if not worse if a second round of that was to occur.

If any club in the comp were to be relocated at this point in time. Ironically it would be the Gold Coast.

On merit yes you'd be right but on merit we shouldn;t be the victorian team in the relocation conversation either.

Look, i have voiced my concerns on the issue and hope the club has plans in place to address those concerns. I have even stated that overall it is clearly a good thing, No sky is falling, no any other crap. To post again would be just to repeat myself I will always form my own opinions on the club and voice them accordingly.

Assuming that's pointed at me.

They are all legitimate questions, thinking that we should be wary and prepared long term is hardly crying about it.

I think it's good to be wary, although I believe BB and Funky Carl have earned our trust so far.

I also think the vital difference between the Gold Coast and Tasmania is that the AFL had a firmly held view that the game needed 2 teams in QLD and 2 in NSW in order to justify increasing media rights negotiations. Tasmania has never offered the AFL anything significant in terms of media money or corporate sponsorship money, and their attitude has always been to provide the bare minimum to shut Tasmanians up. I believe that the AFL wants us to be the single team playing games in Tasmania, but they also don't see any possibility of Tasmania being able to support its own team for 11 home games a year. The current arrangements depend upon state government support, justifiable through tourism. If you relocate a team to Tasmania, more than half the travelling support disappears so tourism funding cannot be justified and the local economy just doesn't have the capacity to prop up a team. Furthermore, crowd figures this year indicate that the 7 games split between Hobart and Launceston are way too many. For all of these reasons, I am not worried that the AFL has any intention of pushing for a relocation now or any time in the future.

If any club in the comp were to be relocated at this point in time. Ironically it would be the Gold Coast.

It may take decades but the AFL will eventually come to its senses and realise there is only enough support for one team in QLD. Suns and Lions will merge.
