Ever had a look at the club's that City group own? They aren't called the Manchester City group after their most recognisable club, they are called the City group.
Here are the list of subsidiaries they own:
Manchester City F.C. (100%)
New York City FC (80%)
Melbourne City FC (100%)
Yokohama F. Marinos (20%)
Club Atlético Torque (100%)
Girona FC (44.3%)
City Football Academy
City Football Marketing
City Football Services
City Football Japan
City Football Singapore
City Football China

This is the future. If you think that only the NMFC brand can only expand via just our name, we will be left behind. I would love us to be pioneers and expand into other channels and countries if it means the continuance of our core brand.

I know a fair few people jumped onboard with Melbourne City memberships because they are fans of Manchester City. They also still readily identify with Manchester City when they watch Melbourne City as the uniforms are similar.

I'll support these women because I'll see NMFC when I watch them regardless of name.
My Aunt is actually the PA for one of the higher ups at Man City, and I mean High up.

City is always seen as this big money hungering, throw cash at everything club (since it's purchase), but I've seen some behind the scenes stuff and it's absurd how similar the club is to NMFC, just with a tonne more money.
Fan engagement and commitment to growing the sport, similar initiatives to the Huddle and allowing those who might not normally have access to playing football the opportunity to get involved.

One thing they pride themselves on is their women's team, given regular exposure through their club social media and not spoken of as an aside to the men's team. Combined with their grass roots development approach it's a fantastic set up.

Whatever else people say the look in my daughter's eyes when i told her about us having a women's team and she said "Does that mean I might be able to play for them?" was pretty unreal.

Funny you say that.

My near 10yo daughter has played soccer for a few years but we chatted on way to school this morning.

Said she wants to play footy instead next year as might get to play for North (because i support them, has had no interest until now) and also play for where she lives.

Happy days :thumbsu:

Great reading stories like this and the one's mentioned earlier. The positive influence this is already having is excellent! Keep them coming.

I don't think that should be a reason to exclude them, they should have been excluded due to doing nothing for womens football.

It would be a restraint on trade to reject them for being interested in other sports.

You mustn't remember the Collingwood Warriors.

Dilena on the unconfirmed name:
"It's meant to reflect the joint venture nature so you've got both names represented in the side on the premiership ladder"

So we know at least the club doesn't want it as Tasmania on the ladder.

That's good.

So getting on to the footy side how is the list constructed? Free agency initially then draft?
Announced prior to the AFLW draft on the 18th I think I read.

Yeah I feel a little better after watching that too. They haven't sold the brand out completely.

So Funky Carl reckons we could've got a license regardless of the Tasmania Connection. But yeah lets compromise our identity anyways. Turn it up Funky Carl. That Tassie Map Guernsey sickens me. This idea of a Joint Venture with Tasmania sickens me. You are well on the way to being relabeled Funkys Carls. :stern look

After the further details that have come out, I am comfortable with everything. It's not ideal but we wouldn't have got the licence otherwise.

If this is actually adding to NMFC revenue it seems too good an offer to pass up, when the alternative is to sit around without a team.

Come on Kangas

You made no mention of his private jet. Personally, I think it would be rather difficult to attach solar panels or a geothermal system to his private jet. ;)

Anyway onto something totally irrelevant.

WOOHOO!!!! 8000 Posts!!!

It's only taken me 17 years and 20 days.

I don't know how you guys with 40-50,000 posts do it, even with the worst case of diarrhea ever recorded (do we record diarrhea cases?) I don't think I could post more 15-20 times a day.:)
