Crows have a strong team and don't seem to have lost anyone to date. I think our ties with MU and Tasmania will see us better placed to retain some players than some other clubs, for those that have strong ties to their grassroots. But I am sure there will be some young players we develop that aren't will get plucked from us by other clubs, it is going to be difficult until they allow contracts beyond 12 months.

Ashmore is definitely an A grader, I'm gutted to lose her

Ah, the time-honoured "what is the definition of an A grader" argument.

For the purposes of roughly understanding where the players we've signed sit in the pecking order I've referred to Hurling People Now's Player Approximate Value (PAV). According to PAV, your best 10 players in 2018 were Lutkins, SFT, Weutschner, Gibson, Stanton, Anderson, Randall, Bates, Zielke and Koenen. For the top 5-6 that certainly matches the eye test for me and I probably didn't watch enough to have a view on the next 4-5.

We got Tassie girl Gibson and Qld local product Stanton, but you hung on to Weutschner from Hobart. You're probably justified in being miffed at losing Randall, from the Sunshine Coast. Ashmore's from Melbourne Uni. So 2 of our 4 were Uni/Tassie connections and we let you keep one . You've still got plenty of quality at the top end of your list and it seems a good coaching team and system.

Certainly I agree that Ashmore's an exciting player who gets her share of highlight reel time, and I'm rapt she's come over, but the statistical output suggests she's more icing than cake. Thankfully we've also recruited plenty of cake.

Incidentally, has there been any word about possibly fixing up that 'map of Tassie' guernsey that was revealed last year? Surely someone had to have raised a red flag over that design.......

assuming your team isnt full of sa players, can take your players from other states even if not vic

but there would be less 'pull' or less of a lure to head to North if based in Adelaide and not from Melbourne - it's not as if they will be able to quit their jobs and be full time

sounds like quite a few Vic clubs had a go at getting Ebony Marinoff but she just re-signed with Adelaide

Yeah Collingwood was the typical spreading of the legs so they can get involved in more activities than Heath Shaw has sober nights.

Under a previous AFL regime, the instant Collingwood announced that they were applying for a license to have a team in the netball league, they would have lost all chance at AFLW and gone to the very back of the queue. This current AFL administration is weak.

Yes, and AFAIK she was able to transfer her work with Reece Plumbing from Vic to SA in the process, hardly skipping a beat financially. Others would face more difficult choices if and when an interstate opportunity opened up.

Seriously, you need to get over yourself. Every Tasmanian guernsy in history has had the map of the state on it. If that upsets you then that's your problem.

The club would just be waiting for the paperwork to be rubber-stamped by the AFL before making any announcements.
