Anyone know if these games are on Kayo? I'm thinking of doing the $5 deal so I can watch tomorrow. Pissed off though - TAB has ruined my plan for a AFLW, VFL, AFL premiership megabet by not having VFL odds up yet.

I work every day with young girls, and have coached a girls footy team at primary school level. That was a very rewarding experience. I think AFLW is fantastic for the community and for football. But unless something can be done about the lack of scoring - 9 goals in two games tonight. No wonder the games were close when 24 is a winning score - then the general negativity about it will continue and be detrimental to it. If NMFC can play an attractive style then regardless of games won then we've added it the competition.

I really want AFLW to work but it just isn't there yet.

I think your kidding yourself if you think higher scoring will have the slightest effect on negativity.

It's really not as big a deal as it's made out to be when put in perspective. Women's games are about half the length of the men, obviously meaning less time to score. Furthermore, the average length a player can kick in AFLW would be about 30 metres, and no one really can comfortably clear 50, yet they're playing on full-length grounds. It's about the equivalent of men playing on a ground that was 250m in length in relative terms. Again, of course that's going to affect scoring.

Any judgement relative to the men's game is pretty much pointless tbh, but unfortunately that's the frame of reference everyone is using, which is probably understandable as it's all we've known for 150-odd years.

I only saw a little bit of yesterday's games but was impressed with how much the standard has improved since AFLW commenced. I expect it will continue to improve at a rapid rate

Well put, I'm really excited about this too. I believe there's a memorial ticket available for those that attend in person which I think will be a pretty cool keepsake in years to come. Let's hope they win!
