NORTH Melbourne defender Tahlia Randall is the only player charged by the MRO after round five of the NAB AFLW season.
Randall can accept a $400 fine with an early guilty plea after being charged with engaging in rough conduct against Adelaide co-captain Erin Phillips.
RACE FOR FINALS Where is your team placed?

The incident, a tackle in the fourth quarter which saw Randall drive Phillips towards the turf while her arms were partially pinned, was assessed as careless conduct with low impact to the head.
As the incident is Randall's second classifiable offence within the same AFLW season (she was charged with rough conduct against Elle Bennetts in round two), the penalty is a fine rather than a reprimand.
In previous seasons, if AFLW players were charged with two classifiable offences in the one season, they would receive a one-match suspension, as Western Bulldogs captain Katie Brennan did ahead of the 2018 Grand Final.

How is a $400 fine reasonable? If my understanding is correct the girls earn around $14-19k pa as a higher paid player (assuming Thalia is as we picked her from Brisbane). A first year mens player gets $150k and a similar charge would be $1500. Her fine should be $150 at the most $400 is outrageous.

(I stand to be corrected as the figures for players wages are what I think I have read before)

So from the lofty heights of free to air, AFLW has fallen to Fox Footy and now with the advent of AFL practice matches, off to Fox peripheral sports channels.

Nice to see the league and broadcasters treat it with such respect during its infancy. At this rate it'll whittle down to a weekly highlights show on Channel 31 each week.

Yeah I’m a bit pissed at how that’s happened just as the season is reaching it’s crescendo. They really are morons

So here we are, last of seven rounds and at least one team with at least five wins will miss the finals, while conference B fights over which team/s losing more than half their matches will move forward. And they call it a success because “so much interest, right to the last game”. In sports with seasons and finals, form over the H&A should matter. Neither North nor Freo should be fighting for their lives this weekend.

Anyway. First of the finals, effectively, away, against strong opposition. Going to need a big lift.

"So much interest - right to the last game - because we stuffed up the conferences!"

They shouldn't be wearing that as a badge of honour.

These are the same morons who were trying to concoct some idiotic wildcard finals spot for bottom 6 teams in the men's comp just so that they can increase interest and boost crowds to dead games late in the season. They really shouldn't hand out Christmas bonuses for arbitrary KPIs such as crowds and TV ratings that can be manipulated. Instead, they should dock wages for every stupid decision made throughout the year.
