There seems to be a prevailing view that test crowds in Australia in the 80s and 90s were bigger. They weren't. It's a myth. People have conflated their memories of one day crowds in that era with test crowds.
The famous Boxing Day 1981 where Kim Hughes made a brilliant century and DK Lillee bowled Viv Richards on the last ball of the day to leave the Windies 4/10 had a crowd of 39000.
Bigger pisspots, but still to this day, had nothing on the 70's

England carrying on like jerks again. Surely they understand why India kept batting. Maybe Stokes could have got a message to Shubman quietly asking when they might want to call it off. But no. England were ready to finish the game when they wanted to, made the call on their terms, and then cracked the poops when Jadeja and in particular Washington wanted to have a go at a ton. They've really gone past Australia as the most arrogant knobs in the game.

Yep. And I recall an interview with Curtly Ambrose about 20 years ago where he said that very thing. The worst part about it is you can't really blame them, them being the players because the WICB is more corrupt than Trump.
Not only that, the US College system gives them a shot at a huge future and the chance to get a prestigious degree.

Sandpaper gate humbled Australian cricket but probably moreso since Cummins has taken over Australia are not an arrogant team. There is very little sledging and carry on and they generally play, dare I say in " the spirit of cricket".

They're not allowed to, otherwise they're the ugly racist Australians. And now that the Indians have taken over world cricket they're the only ones allowed to sledge, otherwise it's racism. It was okay to call Andrew Symonds a primate and a monkey but we can't upset the Indians.

And then deliberately bowling part timers and pies to try and diminish the achievement, all because they were salty they coulsnt get them out

I think it was Sundar's first Test 100?

of course they're going to bat on, every team in world cricket would, including England. Massive sooks.

When were Australia arrogant knobs? I can think of a dozen other countries that can be called Knobs before Australia. One in particular because they beat Australia eventually.

That's pretty much what I and he were saying. There's really no incentive to stay even for the up and comers that have an interest in cricket because there's just no money and whatever money comes in the WICB have a strangle hold on. It's WSC all over again but there's nobody there that's willing to do anything about it.

A genuine disgrace it is. We are Australia, we need to live up to opposition expectations. We should be racist, bigoted, lack empathy and be willing to do anything for the result. It's called cricket, not making mates. I'm disgusted by our niceness.

Dean Jones has risen from the grave. :)

Harry Brook is in a mood!

Gonna be an interesting & entertaining 4th day here with the target set at 374. England 3-154 just before lunch.

Another test that has gone to a 5th day!

England need 35 runs... India need 4 wickets - maybe 3 as Woakes has his arm in a sling!

5 test series, 21 centuries.

Set up for Bazball.
This x 1000.
Seems as if the Poms like their pitches doctored to order as much as the Indians do these days.
Call me naive but I've always been of the impression that if a groundsman for one of our test wickets were given specific instructions as to what the Aussie captain wanted, said captain would be told to go forth and multiply. Our more recent, juicy pitches have been more of a reaction to the bland drop ins (MCG circa Warner's Boxing Day 200 in 2022 for example).
Could be my Aussie goggles though...

But here you get 5 different pitches. The way it should be.

Woakes coming out to bat one-handed... literally! Arm is in a sling inside his jumper!
