nah the Basin is a pretty fair track. Moves a bit for both the first innings but normally flattens right out and it wont look anything like it does come late day 2
They have to put a fair bit of grass on it as the wind drys everything out pretty quickly there

3rd highest test batting partnership set on that track, plus a few more 350 plus
Fair call. To be honest the last time I watched a test from the Basin reserve I think Ewan Chatfield and Martin Sneddon were moving it about all over the place.

I used to face Chats in the nets at club practise when I was a young fella. Used to hit me on the same spot on the thigh pad about 5 times a session and I'd get a big bruise

one of the best humans you could meet too. Used to come back from an Overseas tour, come to club practice and bowl and then sit with anyone and have a yak , then do a stint behind the bar. You'd never guess he was an international cricketer

We’ll need 250+ in this innings. The pitch is doing a lot but anything less and we could be in trouble.

So what’s the story with Wagner? I thought he announced his retirement but he’s just come on the field as 12th man. Presume he’s a local the way the crowd are carrying on.

Just a popular bloke. A heart and soul type of player who gave his all. Never took a backward step, as well as being a bloody good bowler. Ended up the 5th highest Kiwi Test wicket taker.

you're not in Kansas now Dorothy !

This is what happens in NZ

bet you by day 3 it will be a belter
So you're telling me water just falls from the sky over there?

Seriously though id take a green top over a day 1 road every single time.

Travis Head's hangover continues....
When does his position in the side come into question?

I remember Maxwell Getting punted from the Test side because he was deemed too flashy and not placing enough value on his wicket.

Travis Head had plays the same way, but never seems to come into question.

Surely 1 good innings followed up by multiple failures means your name gets brought up and your place in the side questioned?

Same could be said of Marnus as well, not good enough for the bloke coming in at 3.

Seems a few in this side continue to get a pass because the Team keeps winning and past performances and not on form.

Reckon Marnus is in trouble for 2nd test......he'd want to make runs in the 2nd dig.

Green has been a puzzling player. To me he often looks rock solid with his great batting technique, but then he suddenly gets out when you don't expect him to. I guess it only takes one ball. Without him we don't get near 200 today. He did well to get his century over and done with a late rush of 19 runs from 7 balls just before stumps. He'll sleep better for it tonight. Our score is decent on that track.

Think we need to stiffen up that batting line-up with a few more WA boys.

Travis Head obviously has bit of a license, but sooner or later he will have to score a run or two, won't he?

Definitely sooner. He looks great when it comes off, but the failures are starting to outweigh the times it works.

That is my one gripe with the Australian Test Team, they don’t seem to want to blood talent when others are clearly out of form. It’s like an exclusive club that doesn’t nice your in, you can pretty much do the bare minimum and still stay in.

Name the batsmen to replace them.

This was the moment that Cam Green, came of age as a test cricketer.
He made a ton in India last year, but that was on a pitch flatter than the Hay plain. This was a challenging deck and he passed with flying colours. Made the majority of his runs batting with the tail as well
